Hello again, well the problem was not the belt... it was this. We're off to get a replacement, thanks for the help. I am an old /young lady (70 in Oct. ) and I am the fixer of all things. Love learning something new. You were so easy to follow. Thanks again.

It started raining yesterday, so we got it put on this morning. It felt like you were here. ha. Jim had his phone on your instruction. I only threw a wrench once at him. Ha just kidding. Thanks again!!

You have the best how to videos! I'm like you if that was my mower I would leave the cable down on the deck. More of a natural bend.

Thank you, I agree with you and I did really have to think about how it was going to go but it seemed to work as it should so I did leave it where it was. Thank you for watching, commenting and supporting my channel!

Great instructions, I have an S100 and the cable install was tough until you described the need to remove the bracket and hold it with a bungee cord. Got er done!!

Nice fix. I see that you can also get a small amount of adjustment on the deck bracket for tensioning the belt. Thanks for the video.

The deck cable bracket is not adjustable on my 2017 D110. The dern bracket is welded to the top of the deck. I guess the later D100 series mower deck's came with the adjustable bracket.

My repair part from a dealership for D130 included the much larger spring without the “Z” attachment point. The distance between the butterfly clip and end of spring is two inches. Much closer than what it replaced in your video and what I as replacing and expecting for the part number. Nevertheless it works like a champ . D130 bought in 2011.

Thank you very much for your explanation video. I have an E130 4 years old. My cable has broken THREE times. This cable is absolutely a DESIGN DEFECT from John Deere. The cable is not robust enough to last more than one year. Too thin. Breaking 3 of these cables in 4 years is UNACCEPTABLE! JD must have decent engineers so this problem must be intentional so JD can sell lots of cables. I should contact JD engineering and give them a not very nice piece of my mind. The only difference between what I see on the E130 and your video on the D130 is that I do not have the plastic clip setup to attach the cable to the tractor body. I have an 11mm bolt with a 11mm lock nut on the outside. What is funny is that you replaced the plastic clip with a similar bolt and lock nut! You are correct in that getting a 11mm socket onto the bolt head from inside the tractor rail is frustrating since I can't see it. After some futzing around I finally got my 11mm socket onto the head and used a 11mm crescent wrench to unscrew the nut. I don't have the electric ratchet that you have. I think that is something I should get. Looks like it can save a lot of time. Besides the clip, all the rest looks exactly the same as on my E130. Thanks again - Fred; aka Mando Fisher.

I recently this this just as directed. Put the new cable on, same part number as you list. I have a D105. There was zero obstruction or touching of the cable from the bottom spring to the clip, yet 30 minutes into mowing, the brand new cable popped (at the bottom where the cable connects to the spring, cable busted). Is this just a common thing with these cables, or is there something I should check? I mowed all last year with the previous cable and no problem. Then it popped my first cut this year, I ordered the new, put it on, checked and everything seemed to be engaging/unengaging fine. Started mowing, and 30 minutes later it broke. Suggestions?

WOW. Many thanks for taking the time to explain this. Saved me the time and $$ taking our JD to the dealership. Easy repair! How you don't lose a nut is amazing, almost a guarantee I'll drop one and spend way too much time trying to locate.

So, I got a replacement 42" deck for my L110. Completely different from the OEM one. PTO cable bracket is welded onto the deck, there is no way to move it back and forth to adjust the cable. How do you adjust the cable? Also on the front of the deck there are 2 what looks like cones affixed to the deck. No indication what they are and what they are for. Anything to do with the belt and front pulley?
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 8 ай бұрын
There is no adjustment for the blade engagement cable. The tension is spring loaded from the blade engagement cable. The cones are bump stops not allowing the mower deck to raise any farther then the cones.

Thanks for the video. I have an issue that the cable keeps coming off shortly after engaging the blades. I replaced it with a new one but still have the same issue. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines it pops out of the arm on the deck where the spring “hooks” in. Get about 2min of cutting done and the slightest bump and it’s out.
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines Жыл бұрын
Is the deck shaking a lot when the blades are on? Maybe you have a bad belt (possibly a warm spot on the belt) bent blades? Both? OR the arm may be worn out(the hole is bigger than it should be?). I would need to see it to figure it out.
