How to install Bluetooth via Auxiliary in Mercedes Benz CLK 500 or other w209 C class models

I wanted to show you how easy it is to connect any mp3 player/ipod/iphone/android phone with 3.5mm headphone jack to the factory head unit found in Mercedes Benz w209 C class using the auxiliary and a custom Bluetooth receiver. Total time was apx. 2 hours. Total cost= $13 plus an old pair or wired headphones and an old pair of broken Bluetooth stereo headphones. Until I thought of this idea, the cheapest solution I was able to come across was a device sold online & at some dealers called a "PUCK" for $399+. Well, Puck that!

That is an ingenious setup. Great job. We just picked up a 2008, and it has an iPod connector in the glovebox. An old, and I mean old iPod connector design. LOL

That is true, not all merc's have that CDC/Aux option. Sorry I didn't record that part but i tried to explain the process and location in the video. Sucks when you're doing things by yourself and trying to film at the same time without proper recording equipment.

This is an awesome video, but my radio doesn't have a "CDC" button only "CD" button. Will this still work? I have the changer, no disc player on the unit tho. Lastly is the aux connector under the trim on the passenger side standard? thanks (2003 CLK 500)

Do you have the same vehicle as I do? If you do, look closely in the glove box, there may be a perforated circle just needing to be pinched out to make way for the installation of the aux. jack.

Plugging in my Android using the aux cable I bought then plug that in my aux port in the glovebox then I select aux on the COMAND and no sound but the song is playing on my phone but no sound

It's really not. I did it in an hour. But didn't run it through the glove box. This wasn't the best explanation, but get the schematics for the wiring. You can find it online. It will tell you which wire is which, but be careful what you were doing because there is a 12-volt power cord in it. I would make a video, but it was kind of a pain in the ass to take off all the panels. But it still went pretty smooth.

Sorry I took so long to respond...So i thought I had provided enough basic info in my videos, but lets try it this way. there are Bluetooth adapters out there that are recommended for this kind of set up as well as auxiliary connectors. I would recommend you buy the auxiliary adapter and a Bluetooth adapter and connect the two to you mp3 player/phone. In this case i circumvented both with spare parts i had around the house and a few from Radio-Shack

Actually I did not record or take picture of that process since it was just my personal configuration. I imagined you might at least wanna know that there is an auxiliary option and how to tap into it as pointed out in the video. You can still buy the wire from the dealership and plug it into the female connector along the passenger foot panel and mount it int he glove box.

Unfortunately I don't have the answers for you my friend. It seems we may have different cars and equipment. Sounds like your vehicle doesnt have an aux port in the area you mentioned. However, I dont know if it's standard.

Sounds like the problem lies with your phone especially since you went bu the book for you aux setup. Try changing the set up on you phone or using a different device to play music/test your setup. if you music is playing from your phone then it it not recognizing that there is an aux/headphone jack plugged in.

I speak into the bluetooth device that's in my hand. I just placed it on the dashboard close to the radio and it worked fine even with the car windows down or while driving at highway speeds.

Jenny, you absolutely can! You will still need to purchase the aux cable and plug it into the wire harness down by the passenger side floor board and route it into your glove box then connect your phone to it using another double ended male headphone jack to plug into the glove box auxiliary input. By the way, that cable needs to be long enough to reach your phone.
