I finally had some extra time and completed the install of the popular Cadillac ATS Brembo callipers on my 1996 Cobra Turbo Build. In my opinion if you have some basic automotive knowledge you can complete this simple install. If you have any questions make sure to drop me a line.

For all you guys wanting to make this happen on your cars check out below for the how to steps and a parts list of what you will need.
Parts List:
Both front 2013-2018 Cadillac ATS Brembo brake calipers. (Part numbers 172-2777 & 172-2768) Rock Auto or Amazon stocks with no core charge.
2) 4x Caliper Bolts, Head to GM or any hardware store and pick up 10.9 Flanged M14x2.0x40mm Bolts
3) Brake Pads, Check out my Rock Auto link below, choose what best suits your needs. Make sure they are for a 2013-2018 Caddy ATS J55 Brake Kit.
4) HSS 14mm or 9/16 drill bit, I purchased a couple of these from my local hardware store incase i broke one.
5) A round rasping file.
6) Cobra Rotors, if you installing these on a GT you will need these. For the Cobra guys you can run your stock 13’’ rotors. I will be using the Baer 2 piece rotors.
7) Its recommended to also install Stop Tech 950-61001 stainless brake lines. These can be purchased from Summit Racing, please confirm that the banjo bolts work otherwise you will need to source the correct ones from a parts warehouse.
YES! THAT IS ALL
Let’s Do this !
Let’s start by loosening the front lugs on both driver and passenger side wheels, we aren’t taking them off just losing them so they will spin freely. Now jack your car up from the correct mounting points and place a jack stand on both sides of the vehicle so its properly secured.
Loosen the wheel lugs off and remove both wheels exposing the braking system. Remove the 15mm banjo bolt holding the brake line to the caliper and use a hook or mechanics wire to elevate the line so it will not leak fluid (be cautious as brake fluid will damage your paint and floor). Now remove the caliper pin located on the bottom on the caliper, remove the c-clip on the inside of the caliper along with the washer and pull the caliper pin free (the pin might need a few taps to remove). Lift up on the caliper from the bottom in an upward motion to remove again being cautious with the fluid leaking out.
You will now remove the 2 15mm bolts holding he caliper bracket to the spindle. These can be tight and suggest using heat or a longer bar if required. One both bolts are removed you may follow suit and repeat on the other side.
Now you will need to get your HSS 14mm or 9/16 drill bit and drill the existing caliper mounting holes on the spindles. Once you have completed take your rasping file and continue to check the caliper fitment. Continue to file the holes until you can turn each bolt in by hand into the caliper without any resistance (There is very minimal filing needed here, the holes will barely be oblong).
Next, the caliper will mount up at this point but it will not be centered to the rotor. Its recommended you take the calipers to a machine shop or if you are capable yourself you will need to mill .075” off the backside of the Brembo mounting ears. DO NOT USE A GRINDER!!! These surfaces must be true in order to ensure the caliper fits to the spindle square and straight.
Next, the brake pads need approx 6mm of material removed from the top edge, due to them being too tall for the cobra rotors. Use can use a bench grinder just ensure you keep the pad edges straight. In the picture you can see the old line on the finished pad.
Brembo decals can be purchased from @1stcobra on Instagram if you choose to paint or powder coat your calipers. The existing Cadillac logo on the calipers are flush in the OEM finish and disappear easily with a simple paint over. Reassemble the brake system with the new calipers, bleed the system, and enjoy.
As for wheel clearance most 17 inch plus wheels do clear but please double check.
DONE!!!
