I’m going to show you how to install a Kwikset deadbolt lock. To remove a deadbolt lock (including deadbolt lock with no visible screws), just reverse the order of what’s shown in this video and do everything backwards.
1. Install the latch (the latch is already marked with which side is “up”).
2. Screw in the latch from the side, using a couple of short screws.
3. Insert the key cylinder unit and put the rod piece through the center hole in the latch (called CAM slot).
4. Fit the thumbturn assembly onto the rod.
5. Secure all the parts together with 2 long mounting screws that will be threaded through the holes in the thumbturn assembly, though the holes in the latch, and screwed into the cylinder unit outside.
6. Put on the interior cover plate and knob. For some Kwikset models, the knob needs to be installed by screwing in a tiny screw on the side, using an allen wrench.

This was very helpful! I've changed these things many times before, but it's so infrequent I usually learn it all over again. I struggled with my new Kwikset this morning to the point of frustration, and I went to KZbin of course. First couple of videos gave me no clue. But you, dear lady made it clear to me- my bolt was upside down! I changed it and after just a little more struggle the screws lined up. Thanks for your help.

What?!?! That was no install, you literally unscrewed you dead bolt, changed the "decorative" plate and put it back together. Lol, great job at doing that though.

LOL! When you put it that way, it does seems silly, but actually there was a broken deadbolt that I took out and replaced with a used but good deadbolt. And the beginning part of the video was just an "intro" where I re-showed the final, "after install" footage. Maybe I should have just started the video with a hole. I didn't show the part that I took out the bad lock because I felt that taking a deadbolt out wouldn't require instruction (because it's very straightforward), and it's putting it together that some people might find useful to see how it gets done.
