One tip, use DRY LUBRICANT in the cylinder, such as WD40 PTFE. I’m in the process of taking apart the handle and remove the cylinder because the weather caused the pins to seize so that they don’t engage with the key.

I was replacing an old Kwikset handle set so I didn’t need to install the new striker plate but I did need to use that round piece that you showed at the end because that’s what was on the old set. I didn’t want to have to chisel out a space.

For some reason when I lock the handle, it doesn't lock straight up and down, its like a a very slight angle when its locked. I tried multiple times and it won't seem to go on any other way. Not only that, but the part you turn to lock it doesn't really seem to stick out as far as it should, to me, that may be by design. Any ideas?

I pulled that piece of paper but screw cover didnt come off. How do I get it off? I figured it out. I pushed those 2 notches with a flathead screw driver.
