Hi everyone! in this video (which ran super long so my apology's BUT some of the info I felt was critical) we will be prepping our EPROM ecu, removing the V2 chip and installing all of the components to run ECMLINK V3 in the GSX! As well as our brand new AEM WIDEBAND which will be wired in to the ecu for logging and monitoring. This was my first time installing this system in a 2g and it went smooth but still required a lot of prep to make it so. Thanks for watching this episode and following along with the channel. PLEASE ! Do not start the engine with the wideband sensor heated up, like that. That is the #1 killer of sensors ( thermal shock ). Once the sensor has "warmed up", the CERAMIC element is at 1200F. Hitting it with a blast of cold ( and, usually wet ) start-up air is like throwing ice water on a hot windshield. And, the effect is similar. Cracks form and grow. 1st the ruin the accuracy. Then, eventually, the cracks hit something vital. And, the sensor flakes out, then dies.

Thanks for the info! That's so far the only time that happened. But definitely will make sure to not do that again. Don't need my $180 sensor crapping out any faster. Thanks again for the advice 👍

A lot of people doesn't know this that all I was one of them you should make a small video on and help learn about it because we all do it . And a other think why did you put the wideband in the front o2 I was told by Scott and a few other tuner it's better on the rear o2 before it kills the life as well gets to hot and burns it out faster too

@@evo6swap from ecmlink “By FAR, the best place to install the WBO2 sensor for accurate narrowband simulation is in the front O2 sensor location. This page outlines how one user installed his WBO2 in the front O2 location. When installed there, the WBO2 sensor can respond very quickly to the changes made by the ECU to A/F mixture. This is inline with assumptions in the ECU on how quickly it can expect to see a “response” as it adjusts short term fuel trim.”

@@evo6swap NOTE ABOUT HEAT: There's a rumor running around that WB sensors are not designed to take the heat that close to the engine. I honestly don't know if there's some truth to that or not, but it seems strange to me and doesn't jive with our empirical results. I've run the WB sensor in the front O2 location on my own car for years and have had no problems, even after putting it through a LOT of hard (and HOT) road course miles.

Question if I’m sticking the wide band sensor in my side exit bung *not the o2 housing I can wire everything up the same right?

Yessir. Cigarette lighter will give you the dimmer light control. Should work the same. Make sure you keep it within the middle ish area of the side exit. Too close to the opening of the exhaust you can get oxygen contaminated readings.

Hello I have the wideband x series But only the white wire plugged into the ecu When I turn on my laptop my wideband on the laptop is not reading the same as my AEM X SERIES GAUGE Would that be because of the BROWN wire that I have to splice in...

Ease of use basically. If you haven't flash tuned anything or are new to tuning ECMLINK is a great option mainly because of the swaths of information available. Once you sign up on ecmtuning you can join the ECMLINK wiki page. That coupled with dsmtuners and videos on here leave you in a great place to figure out a lot of functions and tool uses that link has to offer. It can be somewhat of a daunting task to go through ecuflash with a tactrix cable and try to hot wire in serial ports for widebands. In no way am I knocking ecuflash and evoscan, but for someone beginning it's definitely the easier way to make reliable power and modify timing and fuel tables. 👍 Another brand nismotronics offers a similar program for Nissan 240's and 300z's to flash tune with.

I did not. Using Ecmlink v3 you can disable those codes. If you have the same issue persisting log into Ecmlink live, click on “dtc’s” tab and uncheck the box for o2 sensors. This will allow you to run the front wideband sensor with simulated narrowband. I found it will pass an inspection for cel lights in New York State like this as well.

If I install the wideband o2 sensor on the down pipe does the white and brown wire still connect to the same pins you mentioned. 5 and 76?

Look up the dsmtuners.com ecu Pin out diagram. You want to identify which pin is your front o2 sensor and which is your rear o2. Pick which one you want, add in that wire to whichever white wire going into the ecu you want to log through. Then set up your data 5v wire and once your program your ecu input selection to show where and what type of sensor your using to log, test it out. My instruction is for the front o2 sensor location with wideband stimulation enabled. Feel free to message me on Instagram or email if you get stuck

Great video! What difference is a socket to a non-socketed eprom ecu? I can acquire 3046 eprom ecu but I'm not sure where to look if its socketed or not. If I do have a non-socketed eprom chip bay is there a way I can install it properly? Thanks!

If you notice in the video when I plug in that red flash module onto the board that part where the chip plugs in is the socket. You can tell if on your ECU the eeprom chip looks to be plugged into the board or if you flip it over you can see that the legs of the chip are soldered to the board. If you're good at micro soldering you could attempt it yourself but it's better to just send it into @tomdorris @ecmtuning.com to have it swapped over instead. It's a very precise job

I have 6 bolt in a 2g can I use my 7boot cas on the 6 bolt ?

Are you asking if you can use your 7 bolt cam angle sensor on the 6 bolt head?. I know that there are 3 different types of heads based on model year, but I'm not sure what the differences are. If it looks like it will bolt on and the plug is the same you may be able to. Depending on that I know you can choose a check box on link under the miscellaneous tab to use non 95/6 cam angle sensor and it inverts the signal. I'd double check on dsmtuners.com or vfaq

Do I need to install the o2 sensor that came with the wideband or do I just wire the power and ground?

You need to install the wideband O2 sensor. That can go into the o2 dump by the turbo. Then you can use "narrowband simulation" in ecmlink to simulate the use of the stock front o2 sensor. If you run the aem series x wideband you use 3.14 as the narrowband switch point to start and dial it in until the wideband reads 14.7-15.2 on 93octane gas at idle out of boost. 👍

Also follow where to wire in the 5v data line in the back of the ECU. Make sure you splice the 5v line in to the correct pin for the front O2 sensor. Then you can log wideband in ecmlink. hello friend, excuse me, I wanted to ask you a question related to the v3 chip that you bought, what happens is that I have an ecu with a v2 chip, the problem is that the cable is damaged and it is impossible for me to get it They have them for sale so I wanted to ask you if I buy that chip on the page that comes with the v3 chip, its cable and the installation cd, could I do it? i would just remove my v2 chip put the new v3 in and i could and use it with the new cable that comes with the v3 chip without problems?

Yes you can buy the v3 kit and use it. The v2 chip comes out, you’ll install the new firmware off of Ecmlinks website and download Ecmlink v3 to run it on your car. Easy swap👍

@@javieramaro7552 if you have Ecmlink you won’t need the maf translator. You can get the Ecmlink maf brake out cable and Ecmlink can run stock maf, 1g maf, 3, 3.5 in gm maf and evo/speed density from it. Plugs into the stock maf plug. Ecmlink does the rest. If you keep the maf box set the base injector setting and do the rest in Ecmlinks maf comp table👍 email me or hmu on instagram if you need any further help

I was reading an install guide on Tuners and it was saying to wrap the old O2 sensor in foil and tie it out of the way when running it in the front location to avoid having a check engine light for the heater circuit. This doesnt seem to be the case?

So if you're trying to run the stock sensor without a check engine light and you're not using ECM link then yes you can do that. But most people do is plug the wide band into the front O2 sensor hole. Going to ECM link and enable NBO2 simulation which keeps the check engine light off. If you don't have ECM link that's what people have done in the past. Do you have link?

@@DSMattitude you can find a lot of different ones pre-set inside the ECU inputs tab. If you can't find one that works you can set it as "user defined linear wideband" and figure out your switch point voltage for your specific sensor and input it on your data log screen. Right click data log screen and displayed values and add "user defined linear wideband" to your log screen. Then input your min lambda, min voltage (usually your specific widebands stoich voltage (ie: gasoline 14.7 afr = x.xx volts) and your max lambda and max volts. Then adjust the voltage until your wideband displays the same numbers as your data log screen. Most of the time googling your brand and type of wideband followed by "voltage chart" or "switch point voltage" will give you the info you need in a .pdf file or something. Hope this helps you

During all the pandemic craziness ecmtuning ran out of cables for 2g's. I tried ordering multiple times between January, February and March. But thankfully tom dorris reached out with good news in August and had packages for sale again. Mine came late August/early September. All is well now though

i picked up the ecu months back of facebook dsm classifieds when a guy was parting out a project he was working on. Then picked up ecmlink v3 from ecmtuning.com. Got ecmtunings maf breakout cable, got my aem series x wideband from extremepsi.com. Hope this helps and sorry for the late response. KZbin hasnt been showing all my comments lately.

Only on the rewired fuel pump and one on the wideband power from the cigarette lighter power for safety.
