Hi there! The back plate is different for ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced. You'll need to follow the installation guide in-app. If the wires are already labeled it should be a quick install.

My ecobee light has a Rc wire input at the back but the new enhanced ecobee thermostat does not have an Rc, it just has an R. Do I use the R input for the Rc wire?

My Android phone can't read QR codes. Is there any other way to "launch the installation instructions"?

Hi there! You should see an option at the bottom of the screen that reads "I have no code or cannot scan." Tap there to follow the instructions. Hope that helps!

Can this be initially installed without WiFi and then connect it later? I will be getting internet set up next week, so I'd like to install now and then connect to WiFi for smart home features once I have internet established.

Yes. Even without a Wi-Fi connection, your ecobee will still function as a traditional thermostat; it will engage your equipment as needed and maintain your comfort set points. You can simply skip the Wi-Fi Configuration portion when setting up your ecobee, though, please be advised, skipping this step and never connecting your ecobee to Wi-Fi will not allow you to complete the registration process, so you will be unable to create an ecobee account.

Can this be installed without a c-wire?

ecobee smart thermostats are designed for use with C wire for constant power. Without a c-wire installation may still be possible with use of the included Power Extender Kit (PEK).

Is there any benefit to installing the trim kit?

It's personal preference. Some Smart Owners like to use it to cover up any inconsistencies on the wall or if the previous thermostat was larger and the paint is patchy.
