I bought this JDX 350 in 2020 per your recommendation and absolutely love it. It is fairly easy to do the maintenance on it and it gets the job done on my little 4 acres. Thanks for the help 😎

Doing this now. Video is very helpful. Owner's manual says it needs 2.1L (70oz) of oil. Kit comes with two 32 oz bottles of SAE 10W-30. 64oz is not 70oz. I'll get more oil, but it's ridiculous that the kit doesn't come with the right amount of oil (or the owner's manual is wrong). Changing the fuel filter is a pain - tubing is nowhere near as long as show in the video and it it has a zip-tie screw attaching the tubing to the frame making it even more difficult to get plyers in the space. I think I'll have to cut the zip-tie to be able to get this done. With such a simple machine, working space for maintenance shouldn't have been this much of a problem.

I recommend using the 64oz amount first; then check the oil level and add more if needed. The full line on the dip stick is the keeper of truth.

I just changed my x350's oil and then I saw some videos saying you should run the mower first for about 5 to 10 minutes which I didn't do. Will I be good?

A flexible funnel is helpful for both the oil change and removing the oil filter. Stuff some rags under the filter and put the flexible filter in front of it. I just did it. Nothing hit the ground.

What brand of oil pan are you using? It seems to be perfect for the X350 mower.

It is just one from NAPA. I don't remember the exact brand though.

Hi Brent, I have an X350 as well and love it - - According to JD the transaxle has lifetime fluid. Is that your understanding as well? Also appears that changing trans fluid would be quite a job. Thanks for great job on your videos

I just ordered the kit through Amazon. I should of done this last year. The mower is starting to grunt a little. I had another question. I was left this x350 by previous home owner and I love it. He also left me the bucket or trailer and also the sweeper which works well in the fall for the leaves. However, he didn't leave me anything to hook the bucket to the back of the mower so I use a long flat screw driver to hold them together. What part can I order for this? I also noticed he has weights on the back of the mower. My lawn has a few hills but still makes it up the hills. Thanks for the help.

Do you mean it has just a 5 gallon bucket with it and you are looking for a holder for that?

I bought a pin for $10 at Home Depot. You line up the holes on the trailer and the back of the lawn mower and squeeze the handle on the pin. It's easy & quick and well worth that $10

This is more just a recommendation like all vehicles would have. This is just the best practice per the manufacturer. I know there are a lot of people that do not do this near this often.

No, but this is not a bad idea. Generally, if they are changed regularly, you shouldn't have an issue.

One thing about all this plastic is that over time it gets brittle and my old 2009 John Deere plastic is VERY brittle and easy to break or crack. Plastic gets brittle.

This is true. It definitely needs to be kept out of the weather as much as possible to help with this kind of wear.

I second that about the fuel filter! 😡 This year I put a fuel shut off in line , which made it even more fun. Sure looked like a piece of cake in the video, though. Can’t help but suspect a much longer fuel line was installed purely for filming purposes, so the filter can be pulled up so that not only is it easy to work on, but easy to get a money shot for the camera. I’ve never taken that side panel off for access to oil filter, but now I’m thinking it might give easier access for fuel filter change?

I only get about 50 hours a season (at most) on my X350 but at about $50 for the kit it's cheap insurance and you may find other things (before they become an issue) to address during the service - I'd say that if you use your mower very "lightly" or if $50 is a big deal going the 100 hours is just fine.
