You have to unzip and remove the siding. Then install the j channel, then reinstall the siding.

Put top nail fin aver side nail fin same with sides and bottom (flashing)

Can you actually add J channel trim on existing sidings? I want to install an exhaust vent but not sure if I can add the J Trim channel. Thanks

You can. Just have to remove some of the siding with an unzip tool. Then install the j. Then reinstall the siding.

No need for j channel but a j block has a lock in j channel flange built in

Which tab on the bottom are you talking about? If it’s the top of the bottom piece then you need to cut it out to make room for your siding to slide in behind the j channel.

So the water flows down the side of the j channel and when the water gets to the bottom of the side piece of j channel it runs down the back of the siding… makes no sense
