Brian when using bullets on rc's on the battery red & black wires / esc red / black wires, you need to have the opposite bullets soldered on. ie battery red wire is female bullet, battery black wire is male bullet. Then on the esc red wire a male bullet, esc black wire a female bullet. This way you cant connect the wrong bullets together, this is standard way of bullets being connected in rc racing boats. Using larger bullets in high amp draw boats is standard procedure these days for obvious reasons, having said that I have seen a couple of boat racers solder bullets on the same way you have yours. They to accidenitly plugged the bullets in the wrong way, resulting in the flash bang of the esc. Hope this may help & good luck.

@@gillian9178 that is a really good idea and some thing I forgot to mention! I didn’t understand this when I first started doing bullet connectors, and as I test batteries, I had tons of them already soldered up the way I have them, and it would be a real hassle for me to go back and change them. I wish, I had done it the way you suggested from the start, however! I’m going to pin this comment because it could help many others!

What a fantastic video. Step by step, simple to understand demonstration on how the average hobbyist can make their models better and faster. Great job explaining every step. Greetings from New Jersey.

I like the how-to videos. I don't own this truck, but KZbin hands-on how-to videos were what taught me to work on my first truck: the Arrma Granite. So i know there will be folks out there that this video will help. I just like to watch wrenching videos, what can i say ? I always forget which color is the signal wire and I've destroyed 2 Spektrum AVC receivers getting complacent and plugging the servo in backwards. I switched to Dumbo receivers so now it's only $17 if i pull a Dumbo move and break it.
@BriansRCStuffАй бұрын
Thanks for watching my video. It is geared toward the Thunder but a lot of it applies to other RC builds just the same.😎 Oh man! That sucks about the Spektrum receivers! I think the Dumbo's tolerate getting it backwards as I have done it several times and them don't seem to mind. Lol, Dumbo move!😆

Thanks for showing the process, Brian. Everyone has their own little tricks and methods, and this is a good way to go about it for the bigger jobs. I saw those $10 irons on Amazon, but kinda overlooked them searching for a decent soldering station. They have some nice ones for around $40, but I like $10 better.. and it does the job! 😄
@BriansRCStuffАй бұрын
I hear those nicer solder stations are really worth it/are really nice. I just don't know what I am missing! Did you end up getting the $40 unit?
@scaleworksRCАй бұрын
@@BriansRCStuff Not yet.. still on the wish list. I'm trying to save every penny for my moving expenses this month, but I'll be in the clear come November. I think I can spare $10 to get a few projects going, but I think I'll wait

@@scaleworksRC when you are broke like me, you contact different companies and see if they will send you stuff in exchange for featuring things in your videos. It often takes way more time and aggravation that it is worth but I still can't seem to help myself. Good luck with the big move! Sounds stressful and exciting all at once.

For sure, I really only got back into RCs like 3 years ago and learned a lot... but have much to learn still!

All the little tools we use for working in the RC s the most important is a good set of drivers imo . The black and silver ones a lot of people use seem to work good . They work good for me for a year so far. The first time I made a repair I used the included Allen keys and never again

@@Hungrybird474 I didn’t appreciate just how much better they were until I got a set! I kicked myself for not getting them sooner and being so. cheap all the little purchases add up so I tried to put them into performance items most of the time.

@@BriansRCStuff well I think you did a good job. There's probably a lot of people who have one of those cheaper rcs that needs to be shown what they can do with it. I watch all your videos and it's a nice change up , no offense just saying it's nice to see how to work on one of those. I have a cheaper one that is brushed but it's built pretty much like that so I got a idea of what I will need to do so thanks brother, good job in my opinion

Perfect video lol...i just got a surpass hobby 120amp esc and 3650 5200kv motor combo.. they are both 6s capable, but I'm a bit nervous running 6s lol.... thanks for the video lol, gonna help me big time! By the way, what's your opinion on 120amp/5200kv combo? Any good you think?
@BriansRCStuff5 күн бұрын
Thanks! Where did you see that motor was 6s capable? I think it would come apart on 6s as it is a really high KV motor. 3s would be perfect for it and a great combo for speedruns (I was going to do something like this before my drivetrain grenaded in my Thunder.... really pissed me off as they have horrible customer support in my experience). 4s would really be pushing it but you might get away with it if you let it cool down after every run or two depending on how hot it gets (I cooked a 3650 5400kv on 4s after like 4 runs in a row).
@MattysDroneWorld4 күн бұрын
@BriansRCStuff OK so maybe just the esc swap and leave the stock motor. Can the thunder stock motor handle 4s you think with a 120 amp esc?
@BriansRCStuff3 күн бұрын
@@MattysDroneWorld yes, the stock motor works well at 4s… both Britt and I run it that way with a 120 or 150a esc. Just keep an eye on the motor temps. Setup like that you can do a couple of runs at a time… not several minutes straight. It will be hard on the drivetrain so be mindful of that and you will need some speedrun tires. I like to run knock off Arrma Hoons. 😎

Which esc will run 4s and has the 4mm bullet connectors? Can you please put the link here somewhere. I know you said it in the video, but I would like the link if you don't mind. Thank you in advance.
