Always enjoy watching your JD videos. Just experienced where the mulch plug lacked about an inch of closing. After wasting an entire afternoon troubleshooting, I finally discovered dried clippings and dirt had collected on the hinge and prevented it from closing entirely. You might want to do a video on this as it might save others that don’t use the mulch plug often as I don’t either that this can occur. Keep up the great work my friend.

Do you think you could put a longer bolt from deck to mulch flap to keep it closed permanently? It looks like there is a hole to do that because my flap struggles to stay closed. I will try to tighten bolt as well

If the Mulching system is operating correctly, you should not need to do that. You may have grass caught up, so it will not shut all the way or something is not correct with the set up of the Mulching system. I have seen many times grass, not allowing the shoot to close all the way.

Great video, thank you. Noticed a metal sound on my X350 when i first start the PTO. The new mulching blades seem very close to touching. 25:48 I only hear the noise at first start up and never heard it before putting the mulch kit on. Do you think the blades could be touching on the PTO start up? Not sure why i only hear it then (My JD has only 4 hours on it). I paid close attention to putting the blades on straight, 50 inch pounds torque. Any ideas? Thanks for your great videos!

You need to find out where it is hitting. You should be able to tell from a very clean metal mark. Then go from there. I would say if it was the blades, normally there is a bent blade shaft or bent deck but being you only have 4 hrs on the machine I doubt that is the case. You need to find out where it is hitting.

On the X304 that has the 42 Edge deck on it. Do the blades spin the opposite direction,

The blades spin clockwise if sitting on the machine lookin down on the deck and the discharge chute is on your right.

Well, the dealer sold me the wrong blade kit. They gave me a kit that had a left and a right. I immediately noticed it was cutting different with the new blades. I did not pay close enough attention to the new ones vs old But after investigating it, I realized the problem. The kit for my mower needed the blade kit that has a right and a right only. Not a left and a right. Lol. The dealer was good enough to swap out the blades for me. Thanks to your videos, it is what helped me figure out the problem. So thank you, sir. This is the second time your videos have helped me out tremendously. 😂
