That U bolt machine has probably paid for itself many times over, a good buy.

My mind has just been blown 🤯 I didn’t realize how easy it was to make the U bolts in the shop WOW

I've never had bolts come out of a spring that easy. Always seized in the bushing with the sleeve ripping loose from the rubber. Have to put all new in after I cut everything out. Maybe this was a newer Florida truck or something. Nice how-to video when everything goes good!

I don't know, all those boults just come out for you. I still think either Canadian rust is more forgiven or you just have the magic touch.

just watch this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5fQgYasrKemocU I think I spent 3 1/2 hours getting the spigot caps out. Of course nobody wants to watch that in real time.

On my '22 F250 the left side front leaf spring bolt can't come out unless you drop the tank, it is 180° from how it's shown here. I'm just going to loosen the nut and sawzall the bolt off.

Other than a obsolete part number, what exactly was wrong with these leaf springs that they needed to be replaced?

Man, spring shop on youtube...who'd thought... Great videos, very informative, I want a u-bolt machine! Got a question. Buddy has a new to him 1997 F250HD 4x4 crew, rear 3/1 leaf & air bags. He says it rides like a tank, as in no give on bumps as empty. I suggested to put in some weight. Got any thoughts for what to look for on the springs? Bags are empty and shocks are good...from Texas, he bought a classic hard riding mule.
@simcoespring2 жыл бұрын
Heck the leaf springs for rust in between the leaves. Also look for plastic pads at the ends of the leaves. Sometimes the springs dont flex anymore when they get older and need to be cleaned up and refurbished. Sometimes the older trucks just need some weight in them. Something to look at.

@@simcoespring Appreciate the reply, all good advice... Will give it a once over for mechanical and load some weight to test. Peace!

Just a follow up. Loaded about 1200LBS onto the bed. Truck tail dropped about 2" and the shackle movement was about 1/4-3/8" aft. Also the spring is a 4/1. Loaded truck rode smoother, as expected.

I always enjoy doing springs on fords they coat there bolts and are almost never seized. chevys on the other hand almost all are seized also get your self a stubby impact gun. I have an aircat with a swivel on it, much nicer for getting inside the fender

Do you need to take the gas tank off to replace it ? I have a 2017 f250 8ft bed

Great video! My 2022 F250 sits low in the rear - with the stock springs, utility box, and heavy landscape trailer. I was considering a slight lift and installing 350 springs. Will the F350 springs easily transfer over to the F250? Where is a good place to buy those and new U-bolts online? Tks, Paul :)

What kind of nut is that at 7:54? Is that an oem part? I need some for my 2014 f250
@simcoespring2 жыл бұрын
yes it is an OEM part. you can also get a normal bolt, we use 334-1937. I believe it is either 16mm or 18mm with a lock nut (don't have my book on me right now) just make sure it is grade 10.9 and metric.

Did you mentioned WHY you are replacing the springs? Was there a broken leaf? We’re they worn, or sagging? How do you determine it was time to replace them?
@simcoespring2 жыл бұрын
there where some broken leaves and the customer wished to replace them with with new spring assemblies.

We do manufacture ubolts, and they are cheaper than the dealership.

Is it worth having springs re-arch'd if they're not broken, just sagged out? Or just replace? If replacing, what is the best way to determine which load springs are needed? I have an 06 2500HD crew cab long bed 4x4 Duramax with a rear GVWR of 6,084lbs. Looking online I see springs rated anywhere from 2,025lbs all the way to 3,600lbs. The dealer was of no help even with my VIN provided. Thanks
@simcoespring2 жыл бұрын
So the leaf springs that you have in your truck which fits 1999-2009 is the 22-1269, which is rated for 2025LBS per spring/per side. you can upgrade to the 22-1289 which is the 1 ton spring which is rated at 2,235lbs per side However if your leaf springs are not broken and you want to save some money, try to find someone to put an extra leaf in the spring pack and have all your plastic wear pads replaced. That can breathe some life into some old leaf springs without breaking the bank. extra leaves in our area cost somewhere around $600 CAD installed (including replacing plastic pads and Ubolts) New leaf springs will cost around $1450 CAD installed with some but not all new hardware, so big price difference. These are prices off the top of my head and are just ballparks. if you want a real actual quote you can call your local spring shop and get an actually a real price. Each shop is different depending on how expensive it is to get parts in your area.
