I’m more of a familial handy man and enjoy learning these things for when I need the knowledge. Not an expert at anything but good enough at most things 😂 That’s how I feel too lol. Great video man!

I have this "strainer basket holder" and use it for removing/installing bathtub drains. Never thought about using it on sink strainers and will try it next time. It's always a challenge to hold the basket in place while tightening that big nut. I use silicone on bathtub drains for its long-term flexibility, but like the plumbers putty for drains.

I think that "strainer basket holder" is a dual purpose for tubs on the other end. I should work on terminology one of these days. I'm still calling stuff whatever I decided to call it the first time I picked it up.

That's a pretty cool tool I have the huge channel lock type specifically for strainers. I stumble onto your channel not long ago, thank you very much for all the info! I'm starting up but don't have a company yet. I've encountered people that know I don't have a license, want me to do the work, I do the work then don't want to pay me because I'm not a company. I know I can sue but I have to follow your other video about red flags that I watched to avoid people like that! Anyways thank again for all your info and God bless! keep up the amazing work, you're the man!

I have worked as an unlicensed handyman for several years now in Oregon. I am registered as an LLC with the Secretary of State for $100 per year which makes me a company. Liability insurance and getting licensed is definitely my goal, but I can do a lot without and am getting paid from every client.

You don't need to be licensed for existing stuff in most cases. At least not in Indiana. Nor for electrical if it's existing. Now new construction and panel work you have to be licensed. I do many tenant turns and in many cases that will include updating lighting or plumbing fixtures etc. It's easier for customers to use one crew or company for a majority of the scope (list of work provided by customer )

Wish more people would own up to not being an expert instead of having to find out later. I know what to ask now but years ago always took people at their word.

Focus on hiring people who can figure things out. You shouldn't need any experience to install a strainer basket. None of this work is hard or requires anything more than common sense and patience.
