MAN! That Water Main was Super Deep. That’s a Dig! Hope You Blessed That After You Buried it! Don’t want anything going wrong there!

The water main has to be put below the freeze level so it doesn't burst during winter months. Are there similar benefits to keeping most of the system at the same level?

Steve, if you monitor this video, do you need to put in a Backflow Prevention on a potable water service, if so is it a RP, SVB or PVB?

I would add a PTL support and strapping for the faucet so you don’t break it. Why not have a ball valve in???? Do you have to have antisiphon?

Real Quick note. Need to insulate that hose bib riser in areas that will see below freezing temps. I've seen many a worksite PVC bib connection pop in cold weather.

Where's your backflow protection? Use AVB irrigation valves & install the hose bib upstream.

I am planning orbit setup like yours and all reddit feedback are suggesting orbit is junk and leaks and breaks. How are your sprinkler and valves after these 2 years?

There have been so many complaints about this manifold leaking almost immediately. Reviews on this products are mostly one star. I am wondering what your long term experience is with this product and how reliable it has been? ?
@SteveDOES6 жыл бұрын
Hey Ted. You had me curious so i just ran out to give it a thorough inspection. I'm happy to say no leaks. With all the plants i have both the flower beds and garden going on every other day so it's been getting a lot of use over the last year and a half. So still a good experience for me. I'd recommend it.

Glad you had a good experience here. Wondering if you used teflon tape or pipe sealant (e.g. Rectorseal Tru-Blue) for the threaded PVC connections and how tight you made these threaded connections. Thanks

Do you think you could possibly explain how you hooked up your main to the manifold? I have a pretty thorough understanding of the solenoid valves/manifold and everything downstream but how does it connect upstream? I am thinking of running 3/4 pex with a shut off valve right up to my foundation wall about 2 feet above the ground, adapter to 1" PVC, drill 1" hole through foundation, run 1" PVC through foundation, come down into the ground and into my box. Does this seem right or am I missing something?
@jcuevas994 жыл бұрын
Does this require an anti-siphon valve or is it already on valves?

Steve DOES ok thank you . Also I didn’t understand the chicken wire you used , you fill the hole with gravel then put the chicken wire Down then the value box ? Right ? Also I am on East cost and it is cold in the winter and I know that the system need to flush the water out so it won’t freeze , is there a way to connect for clean out ? I few I ask a lot questions here , which sprinkler head you recommend and do you do the pvc cement to connect them ? , right ?
@ShaeDolla914 жыл бұрын
How is this holding up? I installed one similar to this and I’m noticing a water hammer when the solenoids turn on. I installed a hammer arrestor and I can still hear the water hammer.

Disappointingly, you did NOT show the most important thing -- for me, anyway -- which is HOW TO SET THE BLACK SENSORS. Do you just leave them as preset? Do you turn them left or right? Do you do this just once and return them to their 12 o'clock position (neither "on" nor "off"). I'm going crazy after 3 days of doing everything and not having results. I DO hear the sensors humming, I DO see a trickle of water coming on of just one of the sprinkler heads, but that's it. Something is really afoul with my connections.

You don't use a primer. Have you had any leaks
@SteveDOES7 жыл бұрын
Hi Fishman, in the past i used primer on some jobs and not on others. From the research I've done (and when it comes to the internet anyone can find a site that will support your opinion) i found that it wasn't necessary. In fact, in some tests it was less strong to use primer. However, because i am just using the cement i like to get a back-and-forth twist in there to ensure it's melted together properly without any potential channels for leaks. Also i just hate the sloppy look of the purple primer that drips everywhere. On a personal note, i wonder if primer is just a marketing ploy to 'fix' a problem that doesn't really exist. Here is a link to a test that was done. Let me know what you think. www.plumbingsupply.com/the-great-pvc-primer-debate.html

I can't see connecting a garden hose to a vertical piece of PVC. First time someone yanks your garden hose it's gonna break it and rip it right out of the ground.
@SteveDOES7 жыл бұрын
fenderstratguy Great point and this was a first timers mistake on my part. Luckily for me the hose is twice as long as needed for my tiny yard but to be safe, I drove in a 3' piece of rebar next to the pipe and secured them together.

I think I've seen that done, now that you mention it. Pretty sure that's all you'd need to do to prevent most problems.

You might want to paint the PVC to protect it from UV as well. Otherwise it will get brittle.

Seriously. The back of the can specifically tells you to use primer first. Its a chemical process that needs to happen, and the joint isn't nearly as strong without it. Most (all?) plumbing code requires it.
