Thanks for sharing, very helpful! When I discussed this option with my wife, I pretended that I was an expert, but in reality I had never done this before :).

I like the size of that marble contact paper. I never thought of having the lines in the countertop.

Yeah, I feel like that’s the crucial part to making it seem realistic is not having too many scenes. It also helps prevent it from lifting.

Great work but I don't see the benefit covering the wall.

Can you provide a close-up shot? How is it wearing over time?

I used that marble contact paper in the past and it wore very good! Stayed shiny and stain free. It was pretty thick and didn't show through. I like changing my countertops every few years.

your kitchen looks updated already. if it was the color you didnt like then thats different. hopefully you got the landlords permission because the cabinets look nice and then you painted them. ive seen really bad rentals that need makeovers. this is not one of them. im speaking from a landlords point of view.

Hello! I actually have a full makeover video on my channel that you can check out to see how I made everything renter-friendly. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the brown-on-brown look, so I decided to update it. The cabinets are from the early 2000s, and my landlords have seen the changes. They love the updates and have even complimented the work I've done. I didn't paint the cabinets; instead, I used contact paper with construction paper underneath to prevent any adhesive from sticking to the cabinet surface. I also made my own trim molding to change the shape of the cabinets. All my makeovers are completely renter-friendly and can be easily removed.

@@TieraLovelle well thats a relief that landlords are aware but read your lease carefully cause they could take legal action in the end. i stick with trends so tenants arent frustrated with a unit. i change materials every 10 years and i have a strong lease. they arent even allwed to paint the walls without written permission.good luck on your updates.

My landlords are well aware that I enjoy DIY projects and what I do. In many of my previous videos, I’ve advised viewers to always ask their landlord and check their specific rules first, as they can vary depending on your country, province, or state. Before moving to this house, I had an apartment where my landlord didn't mind what I did to the place. Here, I asked for permission before we moved in, which is why I specifically chose this house so I could continue doing DIY updates. None of my projects are illegal or harmful to the property, and everything can be easily removed. In fact, the house had some damages like holes and other broken things before we moved in, so I'm actually fixing some of these issues. With my design experience, I want to show renters that they can personalize their space without causing damage. However, I always disclose in my videos that viewers should talk to their landlords or property managers first. For example, in one DIY project, I removed the paint from the cabinets and repainted them because I had my landlord’s permission. In that video, I mentioned how renters could achieve the same look with peel and stick options to protect the cabinets and change the color without doing what I did. Since I had permission to change the actual surface of my cabinets, I provided a better recommendation for renters. My goal is to inspire renters while ensuring they respect their rental agreements.
