Wow, so thorough! And so smart! I wish my boss' house was the same way..he has no overhanging sections besides the garage. He has spanish tiles with no overhang, so this wouldn't be pointing down...I would have to find a professional to do this...he had hired me to do the lights-per my suggestion. I used to do them with my dad...however my boss wants christmas lights permanently...so I started watching your videos. Now I have to return sooo much and re-brainstorm 😩

Besides thoroughly showcasing a great product, you went deeper into installation tools and methods than any other video I’ve seen yet. Awesome video! I installed 12mm 12v pixels on my 160ft roofline 3 years ago using custom aluminum channel. Now I need to get that 54” drill bit and hide a few wires so it looks professional like yours.

Very cool. I’ll definitely investigate these. Maintenance for burned out lights was one of my concerns. Also I have some very high points I need to figure out how to work on. Just thought you could also run speaker wire in the channels to a couple of outdoor speakers mounted in your soffit for holiday themed music during Halloween or when you are hosting parties.

Great install, explanation, information. Yes I do have a question, when can I pay to fly you out here to do my house? I'm serious too! Ask your wife, then I can pay to have you come put up mine, I'll help so you can teach me to know how to maintain when you leave. Let's see Your Flight + lodging + food + your expertise (fee) = my dream coming true of having lights finally put up on my home. I use to decorate my yard for a fews years until I fell ill and could no longer handle the task on my own. Then a near death car collision almost ended my life and brought on more physical challenges. My family and I are Christmas crazy. I love all things 🎄Christmas and my birthday is even in December so it was destiny, lol. But unfortunately I've never had lights on my home though, not even a icicle lights 😢 I really like this product after viewing so many but I have no one to put up a product like this or any other for that fact. I enjoyed watching and learning about the process and you really did do a great job and meticulously thought it all through so well. Bravo!👏👏 (I'm still serious about hiring you for the upcoming 2025 Christmas holiday season. I've already set aside a $$$ budget to buy any and everything I want and plan to do inside and outside my home for Christmas 2025.

Had nearly decided on the new Nanoleaf set that you recently reviewed and thought very highly of, but then I saw your new video (and last year's overall choice) of these Bright Home lights. I'd love to get your thoughts on whether you think the Bright Home lights are worth the extra cost. I'll be installing ~250' which will be under $900 for Nanoleaf, but $2,500 for Bright Home. I assumed the number of lights with Bright Home would have been one of the biggest differentiators, but in your spreadsheet you had "close spacing" as a con. Greatly appreciate your hard work and thoughts!

Yes I originally said I didn’t care for dense pixels, like on strips. Dense pixels look great for certain motion effects, like Fire, Rainbow and Fireworks. But my wife doesn’t want our house to “look like a disco”. 🤣 So I use static patterns 90% of the time. And when using static patterns, I’ll usually use every 3rd light depending on the desire look. My house is so wide that I use every 5th light for everyday accent lighting shown at 0:47. With Bright Home Lights, I have that flexibility to use every light when it suits me, or skip some to make the individual lights more distinct.

I purchased the Nanoleaf kit and installed it the day before Halloween and am very pleased with it so far. While it’s definitely not on the same level as the Bright Home, it is definitely a quality product. Installation went well. I have a Raised Ranch style home so repositioning my scaffolding as I moved along the house took the most time. Between the holiday themed lighting periods I am leaving the lights on a neutral white and dimmed to minimum. It really casts a nice light that frames the house at non-daylight times. Very pleased and I thank this channel for bringing the Nanoleaf to my attention. The wire covers that comes with the kit really makes for a very professional installation.

You can hide them under siding, behind a downspout, or through the attic. Worst case, use a small conduit and paint it to match.

question... on time mark 17:08. I get how you do the first part of track at peak, but how do you connect the next section of lights using this method of connecting to the house. and keeping it tight to the first tack and able to install lights and topper?
@handydadtv
@handydadtv Ай бұрын
Side mounting means the light track is attached to the house and the top covers are removable. I slid the covers back to install the light strings. The covers of the peak tracks were shortened by around 4” so the cover of the next track would overlap the previous one. That’s how I made sure they were straight in line.

What is amp rating on each 24V LED puck? Trying to determine fuse size for each zone. Want to install a total of 200 feet of track with three separate zones having around 200 lights per zone. Using 24V system, I shouldn’t need to install power injections. Thanks.

Lights are rated in watts. To get amps, add up the number of lights, multiply by the watts per light, then divide by voltage.

@handydadtv
@handydadtv 2 ай бұрын
With an angled soffit, I’d opt to cut wedges to make them level. It would be impossible to side mount like I did with anything above it. On the other hand, you could be creative and epoxy strong magnets to the gutter and inside the track.

Two controllers is an option but not necessary if you can run a wire from the controller to the second story. If the attic isn’t an option, think about using vinyl siding corners or along downspouts.

@@handydadtv Can't you achieve "warm light" even though you select "day light" during product selection? I am still not understanding why this is an option on their website because can't you just adjust the brightness of the white lights? I am afraid that is I select "warm light" on their website I won't ever be able to ramp up to "day light"...but I could always ramp down from "day light" to "warm light". Is my thinking right on this? Also, someone needs to talk to Bright Home Lights because they don't explain their option selections very well at all (especially on this subject).
@handydadtv
@handydadtv 3 ай бұрын
@RandyBigbie You are correct. I have dedicated warm white LEDs but can emulate cool white using the RGB LEDs. I use the warm white LEDs for accent lighting because they look better than mixing three colors, they use less power, and it (hopefully) lets my RGB LEDs last longer.

@@handydadtv sorry to bother you again. Can you tell me again why you have 2 different kind of wires, 5 vs. 2? I am going to get these lights and I only have a 1 story with about 250 ft of lights. Why would I need 5 vs. 2 of the wire types for power infusion?
@handydadtv
@handydadtv 2 ай бұрын
@RandyBigbie I needed 3 conductors for the blue line, and three sets of 2-conductor wire for power injection on the green line. I combined the line and one of the power injections into a single 5-conductor wire to try and save space in the channel.
