tip for speeding up the MD5 check: copy the output from the MD5 file checksum, then press CTRL + F on the PSX Place site, then paste the output. If the entire MD5 is highlighted on the site, you're good to go.

Some tips that might help someone: If you’re installing from safe mode and it says it cannot find the update on your USB.. make sure to please start and select, the disconnect your controller cable from the controller while it’s checking.

I just uninstalled HEN 3.0.0 to do a full re-install and out of all of the HEN vids out there, you're the only channel (even in my native language) that put links to the official sources of the packages. Sure, other well respected youtubers put compiled packages for our disposal but knowing who're behind the amazing stuff is a great idea, for example, the MD5 hash check should be the norm and not everyone does that. Thanks for posting this. Old school modder here, just tried this for fun on an old (compatible) PS3. First time round, hfw installed, then hen via the browser, then multiman and then a few isos, ran a game no problem. Decided to add some more games via Ethernet ftp, no problem. Then that was it, nothing worked. Just kept looping and the console even shut down randomly at one point. Spent the next several hours trying to figure out how to get it all working again with zero success. Reverted back to ofw 4.91and then all my original stored games got lumped into one unknown folder, so something had messed up the file structure.

It worked perfectly, thank you for this excellent tutorial! I only had a small problem during the Hen auto-installer portion. I got an error message saying “HEN Failure! Restart PS3 and retry!” After restarting the PS3 a few times I still got the same message, so instead of restarting again, I just quit the browser and went back on the auto installer and tried again. That time it worked as intended! It’s the second time I’m following one of your tutorials for the PS3Hen install (watched an older one) because I stupidly dropped the previous PS3 on which it was installed and broke it. I’m glad that the installation worked again on my new PS3 :)

I really needed this. I have a Launch model PS3 that I jailbroke myself and loaded up with a bunch of goodies, but it sadly runs way too hot for my liking, and the CFW fan settings just ramp the fan up to almost max after a 10-15 minutes. I have a stock Super Slim PS3 that I made my main PS3 after I "retired" the Fat PS3 until I can get some new thermal paste, and I'm now planning on installing HEN on it thanks to this video.

When flashing via safe mode, I encountered an issue where it would alternately not find the pup file or say it was corrupted. I unplugged the controller while it was searching and it worked. I think the controller was charging and interfered with the crappy USB drive I got as a giveaway from a roofing company. So make sure you use a high quality USB drive 😅

You can stay on an older firmware, but updates to firmware and of course apps or mods could bring better features.
