If power was interrupted that turned off the console mid-patching then it has been bricked, sorry to hear. You would need to open the console and use a hardware flasher to restore your recent backup, or send it to a service that does that.

hey not sure if you’re still seeking help on the missing MD5 file, but from my understanding, it is not ABSOLUTELY NEEDED. I jailbroke my PS3 without the MD5 file present. Just make sure every other step shown in the video is followed perfectly, and that every other console qualification is met (compatible model and software number). On top of that, as long as you are downloading a file from the exact link provided in the description, you SHOULD succeed. I went with the CFW 4.91 Cobra 8.4 PEX download and mine did NOT have the md5 file either. I took the risk of continuing with the process as instructed and it worked perfectly. Please keep in mind this was just my personal experience, but if it worked for me and for a few others in the comments as well, you all should be able to successfully jailbreak without the md5 file too. Good luck.

Just followed your tutorial and installed EvilNAT 4.91.2 on my PS3 slim. It sat dead and bricked for over a year because the wireless antennas failed and it got stuck in an update loop. I just resurrected it last night by repasting it, putting in a 500gb HDD from my super slim, soldering the back of the PCB to fix the wireless card issue, and put in a new CMOS battery. I have 4.91 on a chechk, yesterday the patch stopped at 90/75% and the ps3 really froze. I stopped it. Today I did everything all over with another usb and not pex/cex but cex. Got a cech 2501b for $25 on Facebook yesterday, loud fan, but works great , if it bricks, no loss. A clean, thermal paste and cheap ssd will be the next steps before jailbreaking, understand the ssd will be very bottlenecked, but it will help with loading and texture streaming on a good amount of games... Hi once I put my controller down it left the patching screen into a blank page now my console is bricked and won’t turn on, what can I do ? How can I fix this ?

That would require using a hardware flasher to restore your flash backup.

Unfortunately yes, I do not have videos covering it but there's guides out there if you want to do it yourself. In regards to this issue, I actually ran it by esc0rtd3w (one of the team members) and he was looking for more information. Mainly, did you go back a page to the blank page, then shortly after turn off the console? Apparently even if closed, the console will still patch in the background, so it me it sounds like you might have turned off the console as it was still being patched.

@@MrMario2011 yes that’s what happened it was on a blank page and frozen so I didn’t know what to do so I turned it off. So if that was to happen again I just leave it alone even on the blank page? Will it tell me when it’s done doing the patch?

He got back with me, thanks for confirming, it definitely sounds like you shut it down mid-patching process which would indeed brick it. It's unfortunate and rare that happened, but fumbling the controller can cause that. You would not get notified in that instance, but it was recommended if that happens then to wait 5 minutes before turning the console off to allow time to patch.

Needs to be CFW, if it just says "Version 4.91" that's OFW.

MrMario, I am in desperate need of your help. I followed your guide to the T, but I am stuck at a step where I plug in the USB to the PS3 to install the CFW. When I go to system update, instead of seeing the custom firmware, PS3 prompts me to update firmware 3.91, even though I have disabled the auto update you mentioned of in the beginning of the video. What do I need to do to successfully install the CFW? Please help :-D

Getting an error that the Web page cant be displayed when trying to use the toolset. People say to just use HTTP, but the PS3 just puts the S back in. Can you help at all?
