Great upgrade and how to video. My 2021 Xtreme Recon fortunately came with steel knuckles. We’ll see how well they hold up before I make the same upgrade.

Thanks so much! Steele knuckles should be mandatory. 😅

My tie rod wallowed out my aluminum knuckles on the Rubicon trail turning 38's. I absolutely love my Reid knuckles. My steering is tight as a drum.

Oh man, that sucks. I wish jeep would have gone steel on the JTR, the reids really do make a big difference. The truck feels more solid on the road.

I watch a ton of jeep videos from the Big time KZbinrs that have shops with lifts, and every tool you could imagine...And, all were free so long as they mention their brand in the video. But I also enjoy the driveway mechanic getting things done! I can't imagine how difficult it was to perform this job while trying to make KZbin content. 1) I Don"t mind you using a Ryobi impact, as long as it works for you. You could be using a pink Barbie & Ken impackt as long as it works.... Right. 2) Don't waste time responding to folks that live in their parents basement, like atmattb225. I Don't believe "Haynes" (notice the correct capitalization and spelling) cover non-OEM replacements. Thank you for the video, and you just got another subscriber with a Thumbs up!! Have fun out there!!

Diesel JL Rubicon (2021), like mine, came with aluminum knucks

Shit really? I was missinformed then. I thought all diesels had steel from the factory.

@@barelymadeit I originally thought so as well my dad’s 23 JL diesel has aluminum as well. I think it was just JT’s

A prementivie upgrade or did you have a problem with the aluminum OEM knuckles? Assuming no issues with the OEM knuckles, did you notice anything when you installed the REID knuckles on control, drivability, etc...
@barelymadeit10 ай бұрын
we actually bent the passenger side when we hit the rock on wheeler lake. Yes the truck felt more glued to the road and there wasn't any flex when going over larger rocks on full lock after the install.

Man I had a helluva time getting my stock knuckles off my dynatrac ball joints. The aluminum knuckle and steel spindle of the ball joint seems to have had what I think was galvanized corrosion. In the end I had to take a torch and heat one of the bottom ball joints/ knuckle connection. It was terrible. Next time when I go to replace balljoints on the new Jeep ill be doing reids at the same time.
@barelymadeit9 ай бұрын
For real its crazy! I beat the shit out of mine for like 2 hours. I think being bent made it worse.
@Intentsrig9 ай бұрын
@@barelymadeit Bent knuckle? Wow. I wheeled with my stock knuckles for a solid 4 years on 37’s. Slow speed crawling though. Never very fast. The top balljoint holes were starting to wallow out though. I still have those knuckles as an emergency back up if I break the JT’s before I get Reid’s lol.

What’s happened with the old steering knuckle
@j.christopherchang16689 ай бұрын
amazing video! I am also trying to purchase the Reid racing knuckle. I run a 3.5 lift 35 inch tires stock components for steering except I have a fox steering stabilizer. I have a 2018 JL sport S 3.6 v6 and I was wondering if I need to buy a new ball joint and tie rod and drag link in order to fit onto the knuckle... (I will eventually change my stock component because I got 80,000 miles on it already but biggest fear is I need to know which tie rod will fit onto my sport axle and Reid racking knuckle...) let me know if you recommend any!
@barelymadeit9 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! 🙏🏻 we are glad you found our video helpful! I would say the stock components would fit, but im not 100% sure. I would reach out to lewis Kemish at wreckless motorsports KY and just confirm before you buy parts. Hes a great guy and can tell you all the specifics on your exact rig so youll know for sure sure. Tell him we sent you. 😀
