On my 04 gt, the wires are all completely different than that of the harness (which came with my jvc head unit). The only similar wire is the black, all others have the same main color but an off stripe. Should I go for it anyways?

There's a third OEM harness for my Mach 460 system and if I'm reading the wiring diagrams correctly that third OEM harness is a speed sensor input that controls the OEM head units volume (there's a setting for it). Apparently, the aftermarket units don't have that option.

I have a 2002 mustang with the mach sound system (not the 1000 one the other). 6D changer/radio combo that is just crapping out. Any idea which harness i'm suppose to go with? There seems to be 2-3 versions of the harness... Thanks!

If I understand correctly, the stock Mach amps have high and low pass filters for feeding the tweeters and woofers, respectively, so the crossover settings aren't necessary?

No radio does highs and amps only do bass in the door and back bigger speakers

@@dusting7533 As I recall, the OEM radio didn't have crossover adjustments. But it had separate outputs for the tweeters and the subwoofer amps. The tweeters weren't processed through the subwoofer amps. So, my original post was somewhat in error.

Nice vid man. What are the wires hanging off of the car's amp connector? If you pause at 2:13 you can see the unused connector hanging there under the amp connector. I can't figure out what this is.

One more question, you say to wire the black grounds from the car to the black ground from the stereo, but do you not have to actually physically ground those wires to the car once they are connected together?

Google metra car parts. Put in vehicle make year model. Get the part number for wiring harness. Throw it in to good. Can usually grab of Amazon for cheap :) can also get antenna adapters

thats fine the 3 wires ypu mentioned are for the premium factory harness. means you just need the regular harness not the premium audio harness

When I tried to hook up my aftermarket I had a lot of humming or whining. Checked all my grounds and tried to ground it to the head unit but nothing helped. Any idea why or what else to try?

One thing I've noticed in every video about these installs is that no one connects the long light green wire to the parking brake. If I read my written info correctly, the light green wire can be attached directly to the ground which is what happens when the parking brake is activated. I'll be doing my install tomorrow and will verify that with my multimeter

This depends on the stereo certain stereos like Alpine and Pioneer need to have a relay like a TR7. But some decks like Kenwood you do not you can just ground the parking brake. That way you can still tune your car and do everything and if your kids want to watch a movie while you're driving they can otherwise you cannot have any video in motion while you're driving and it also locks certain settings out

@@ghostlyrich Mine is a Pioneer AVH-220EX. Manual says to attach to the +12 V side of the switch so activating the parking brake will close the switch which will supply a ground to the dash to give a parking brake indication and allows a DVD to be played. I don't plan on watching DVD's so I guess it's not much of an issue leaving the wire disconnected unless it prevents me from tuning the radio while driving.

@@ghostlyrich It turns out that the green wire MUST be connected to the parking brake. The radio makes you PROVE that the wire is connected to the parking brake by requiring that you set the brake AND then release it AND then set it again before it allows you to proceed with viewing. So, just simply hardwiring to ground won't let you play videos.

Unfortunately, when I pulled out my aftermarket radio that someone else installed, I found nothing but extension cord wires ran to all of the original speakers, and wire nuts. Dammit.

both blacks go to the black on your deck harness and both blue whites go to the blue whites on the remote turn on on your deck which should be blue white on the deck harness as well it's for your car if it has factory amps tells them to turn onand grounds Them
