(Old but) What is very good about this is the color of the bulbs available! He used 4700K. That is much better than 6000-6500K! If I did this I would probably use 5000K. However, also probably, I would do as you want and use LEDs at 6000K because I am rarely in bad weather and no snow. (But, I am thinking about moving to another state. Colorado.) Of course, there are off-road 5000K lights that may possibly be used.

I would love to do this, but looks way to complex. I could get the aftermarket retrofit projector headlights, but they get water in them easily. I guess I’ll just stick to my reflector housings. 😢

Nice video. Does the H1 bulb connect to the high beam wire or the low beam wire? The wire that you drilled the hole for, where do you get a connector for that? I'm assuming the black wire goes to ground and the red wire goes either to the high beam wire or to the low beam wire. Which one?

For the H1 bulb connection, they will connect to a ground (black) and low beam hot coming from the car (red). Since I used a bi-xenon style projector, the wiring/connector I drilled a hole for is part of the projector, it’s included. These wires will need ground (black wire for projector high beam) and the high beam hot wire when highs are flashed or activated (red wire on high harness coming from projector).

I've built some of these myself and all the "high beam" connector does is flip a small plate down out of the way of the light. That small plat is what gives the sharp light cut off and it's flipped by the small motor inside the projector. Power is constantly applied to the 9007 bulb and it's not like the H4 bulb which has 2 separate circuits inside the bulb. What type of bulb does your car use? H4 or 9007?

Yes…and to have a mechanical and adhesive type redundancy to ensure the shroud will always be vibration free.

You would use the vehicle’s headlight adjusting screws. Since this projector is in exactly the same position as the factory installed bulb would be, the aiming process will be the same. Usually, the owner’s manual will have a section on adjusting headlights.

You can measure your light housing, but most retrofit projectors are 2.5” or 3” and should fit almost all housings.

The fluted Glass headlight housing is problematic as it scatters the beam blinding incoming drivers. Avoid retrofitting HID bulbs in those type of headlights
