Interesting fact: The guy who started Ring went on Shark Tank in 2013 to seek a $700,000 investment in the company, which he estimated was worth $7 million. Only Keven O'Leary was interested, but they could not agree on a deal. In 2018 Ring was sold to Amazon for estimated value of between $1.2 billion and $1.8 billion (estimate from Wikipedia).

Are there two screws in the bottom, one, need larger head, two needs smaller head? Do the screw(s) strip easily. Our builder hard-wired the ringer w/ camera. I cannot get the damn face plate off for set-up yet the doorbell chime rings - a result of the initial set-up of the front door unit?

I love and respect your stuff, but ring doorbells collect so much personal data. Please be careful, and read into the privacy and security concerns with this line of products. People choose comfort over security/privacy, which is concerning. There's some very good videos on this topic out there. Stay safe
@ValentijnEnJack3 жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong, I still hope that people support The Fixer. I just don't want to encourage even more mass data collection/mass surveillance. Especially not from Amazon and such. It's not healthy. "Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say." -Edward Snowden
@mark91183 жыл бұрын
@@ValentijnEnJack First, you don't have to let Ring/Amazon collect any data if you are not concerned about keeping history and only want a live view. Second, this is on the outside of the house, not indoors. Third, the videos they store are for your use only, and Ring/Amazon does not use the video history. I have a Ring doorbell on the front and rear of my home, and pay $3 per month per unit (or $10 a month for unlimited units including regular video cameras) to store the videos (which are collected when the motion detector sees something that you may want to record). There is an ability to customize the field of view that sets off the motion detector to very specific parts of the camera view that is user defined. I agree that there are a lot of security and privacy concerns on the Internet, but I honestly do not think this is one of them.

I would never recommend this product to anyone!! I will be looking into a NEW system!
