Start at the peak and work your way down both sides. You're eyes are drawn to the peak where the panels will be even.

Interest to see the j-channel... Why not install the soffit the long way?

Soffit comes in a width of 12 inches. This soffit is only 8 inches wide. So, you would have to cut off the nailing flange. So, it would not be very secure. I have never seen it done that way, I have only seen it done the way I showed.

@@doityourselfdenniscom thank you for the reply. The one I got from Lowe's is about 13.5 inch wide and like 11 ft long... I was wondering bc like you mentioned I have only seen it on KZbin the way you put it up and not the way I put it up lol I just wanted to make sure I didn't do it wrong, and if I did, I'll fix it since I only put one piece... I'm curious to see how you finished the soffit with the J-channel.

@@gianelpibe The finished part of the soffit you bought at Lowes should only be 12 inches wide, then when you add the nailing flange on that would make it the 13.5 inches. If you do it the way I show, the J-Channel will just butt up against the soffit after the soffit has been hung.

I like to put my soffit on first and butt my j channel up against the soffit.

Because there will be j channel will be butting up against the soffit, therefore f channel is not needed. Hope this helped.

NOT the correct way to put up soffit! J channel is placed first...then soffit placed in it and etc. This video is a perfect example of what NOT to do to put on soffit.👎

This is just another opinion. Say someone does it your way. Then you have to put up more j channel to accept the siding. Why use two pieces of j channel? The way I do it is better.
