You will always run into problems if you try hooking up both the modem & router at the same time. The correct way is to hook up the modem first, plug everything in then use your mobile phone and use "My Spectrum App" to activate the modem... then after you get that working, hook up the Router and use your phone & app to activate the router. If you try hooking up both at the same time, you will get problems activating nearly 99% of the time, so always do the modem first then the router.

So I’m curious because when I set mine up, it is saying *connection issue* after the 20min clock expires on the app and I don’t want a technician to come to or inside my home. I also got a coax tool to check the signal so I checked the coax cable coming directly from the breaker box and it said there was signal so I plugged everything in there in the garage and still same issue. Any suggestions?

@@mandocutz_760 I ended up calling the provider and they sent out a technician for free because I had attempted to set it up but there was ultimately nothing I could do. The problem was that the outlets that I was plugging them into needed activated if that makes sense

Sometimes when you get a new house or new WiFi provider the outlets are either shut off or not compatible with the new router. That’s what I was told

You’re welcome. I had to do the same thing. I don’t know why the online version didn’t work, but I tried it for two days, and never got it to work. The phone number works instantly. Hope other people find this and it helps them as well.

I have the spectrum router/modem combo and the spectrum technician attached it to the wall above the door in my master closet when I moved in. Now they are sending me the new equipment like you have in this video. Where would you suggest I put it? I wouldn’t even know how to fasten both pieces to wall like the technician did.

I have Spectrum and I'm currently using the Motorola Surfboard modem that was installed 10 years ago. There is no special wiring outside my house. The cable comes down from a power pole to an eave and then down and in thru the wall. If I order this new self install kit, do you know if I can just swap them out and activate the new modem as you describe in the video.

Maybe. At my house, there is a unit on the outside that the wire going into the house is connected to. It’s very likely that the installer will hook up your wire on the outside, so all you need to do is plug in the wire that’s already inside your house that you used for your previous cable.

Have you found a way to disable band steering? Every time I autoconnect to wifi using S23U, shows wifi 6. I have to turn off wifi then back on connect to wifi 6e. I tried having mobile data off and enable wifi safe mode through developer mode.

There should be a coaxial cable coming into your house from outside if you’ve had cable before. In my case, there was a spectrum coaxial cable outside of the building, and then I had frontier fiberoptic Internet with a coaxial cable going into the building, so I unplugged it from the frontier box on the outside of my house and plugged it into the Spectrum connection on the outside of the house, and then plugged the spectrum internet equipment to it on the inside of the house.

If you are only using wireless computers, and then you don’t need a network cable to plug into them. If your computer only has a network cable connection, then you can use the cable to give Internet to the computer.

​@@Sara-zu1hxusually coaxal cable line installed by spectrum via wall coaxal outlet or if the cable line is outside of home, if you don't have either set up by spectrum call them so they can install it for you so you can connect to your internet if you have cable TV through spectrum it's the same outlet just connect the splice connector connect one coaxal to the TV box and the other coaxal cable to the internet modem

Push reset button if not unplug the unit for 10 seconds then plug back in if it turns red again then call the number on the back of instruction booklet automated system ask for your acount# they will send the signal to your router to get it activated
