Such a useful video, Thank You. I was stuck trying to remove the original Ryobi head. Nowhere in Ryobi manual does it show you how to remove the entire head. The SpeedFeed instructions are overly complicated and it came with so many extra parts. The Ryobi head wasn't bad, it lasted two full seasons. The SpeedFeed is much better and easier to re-string.

I agree. Much better

Awesome video! Thanks! I didn't know you could do this with a ryobi. My son came home from the army and bought a house. I gave him a bunch of my old stuff including my echo trimmer with a speedfeed. I got a ryobi 17" trimmer but hate the head! Just got an echo speedfeed 500 universal kit and put it on with your help. The parts look a little different but I figured it out!

That's awesome. It's so much better than the Ryobi head for sure.

@@therenodummy it seems more powerful... spins quieter and cuts better... I can see where its cutting easier too... did a great very deep edge on my lawn today. I had a slight problem with the line getting stuck inside and not feeding. Not sure why. like it got clogged up on top of itself. Ill try different line I guess.

Thanks! This answered a big question for me. I did this on my Dewalt 20v a couple years ago, but it quit working yesterday, so I’m thinking of getting another brand because I don’t like the newer model of Dewalt. Looked at Kobalt 24v but it’s not clear if the head is as easily replaceable. Also not sure if the Ryobi 18V trimmer allows this replacement.
@therenodummy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yea I couldn't find a clear answer if it was going to fit my 40V. I'm just glad it did.

The 18v i have is i believe the ryobi one. While the head can be replaced im not sure what other head would go on it. This one will not. I took mine apart, 9 screws. 4 to remove the guard, 5 on the end of the wead eater then you can open the casing exposing the little motor which had a shaft passing through it, held the shaft with pliers while twisting the head off. Quite a process to go through to discover no combination of parts the kit this head comes with works on it. I did the sensible thing, put it back together and bought the 40v. Im aware im a tad late but may save others some trouble.

Good to know. I used to have the 18v but I never tried to replace the head.

@@therenodummy I just installed this speed feed head on my 18 volt Ryobi brushless trimmer model P2009 and tested it out today and it’s working well so far.

Two questions please: Did the black spacer come with the new bump head or was that already on your Ryobi? Also, did you notice any loss of power with using this larger head? Thank you for your time sir.
@therenodummy2 жыл бұрын
The spacer came with the head and I actually felt like it cuts better than the original Ryobi head. No loss of power. It feeds so much easier.

Quick question. Is the blade on the guard still cut the string to the appropriate length? And thx for this video 🤙

Thanks for the video! Your am@zon link says it’s only for echo trimmers. I have a 40v straight shaft expand it ryobi. Are they interchangeable? Thanks!!!

Yea it should be interchangeable. It comes with different mounting options to fit different kinds of trimmers.

I can't say for sure but I'd be really surprised if you couldn't. The heads should be about the same.
