Cool. Looks like when I lived in Laguna Niguel, CA doing landscape construction. When I was doing masonry I used to mix thin-set with the mortar because it's a sure thing bond on the cinder block. Too often just using mortar ends up not bonding into the pores of the stone and breaks loose over time.

@@OdellCompleteConcrete I'm back in Colorado and I always mix in the thin-set with mortar because of the winter freeze-thaw cycles we get here. I don't use thin-set for the joints because it doesn't look aesthetically appealing. Anyway, when I was out there in SoCal it was big-time masonry construction. I even did tiling on driveways. It's not such big deal here in Colorado unless it's a high-end house.

Your videos are amazing. Been watching them for a few years and learned a lot. You pack so much great information into them without any of the fluff and hype of other content makers. I am curious about the cost per linear foot this type of wall without the stucco on the back surface and about the same 2-3 foot tall. I know the veneer can vary but just for an average pattern from Belgard or Eldorado? I'm in far northern LA county.

I have a concrete retaining wall that varies from 16" down to 11" and wondering where all the cut stone should go - top row or bottom? This is thin stone veneer I will be using with grout lines. I was thinking I wanted all the cut stone on the bottom row. Any recommendations? Thx!

Layout some stone on the floor to get a pattern and vertical measurement that's close to the 11". install a level board down from the top the same as the vertical measurement. Lay stone on the board up to the top. Remove the board and fill in the bottom with the cut pieces.
