Me too. Its the best way for each of us to learn right!! & sometimes doing it that way you discover better ways that are yet to be done by someone else. I mean really that’s what made youtube huge. People Recording themselves doing things in a unconventional, so called unprofessional way. Just learning, discovering & sharing! Im so ordering these hooks on Amazon. Because last 4 years in my new Apartment. Ive used the Black Long like porch screws meant to go into a beam I think. Well I have a popcorn ceiling! & I have like 50 huge plants. Like my female Spider Plants huge. & 2 times middle night it dropped out the ceiling. & its huge. Its like carring 2 cinder blocks!lol I mean in recent years average people everyday people are building their own houses, repairing their own plumbing, building their own privacy fencing, fencing in Their own backyard. you get videos of indigenous kids, teens of Pakistani, India, Japan, Freakin Building amazing in grown swimming Pools. Using Grown clay, Mudd, & fabulous fort out in the middle of the woods, swamps, I mean some of those videos of these kids, teens truly put Our American kids to shame. Anyway I hope these will work great. i love that people care enough to upload this kinda content, stuff like this really does help us who seek out our own answers. To do it right ourselves the first time, & not having to rely on someone elses time or having fork out extra money! Like some things like electrical I will leave to the professionals! But I did wire in my own smart ecobee furnace thermometer the other day! Using youtube. I dont have a C wire in this old house! But i do now. Lol 😂 So keep uploading youtubers, because eventually I will need you & i will find you. Lol 😂

Good idea would be to first tell people to turn the house electricity off to the whole house before drilling near a light fixture in the ceiling.

Do you happen to have the specifications for the long wood screw that you needed but didn't come with the hook set? I have the exact same problem, but my local hardware shop didn't have anything, and not sure what to order online that has threading on one end but long enough to reach the wood in my ceiling.

@JoseAntonioPelayo4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tran, I'm no expert, there are hundreds out there, but I do most if not all of my own home repairs and add-ons. if you can find the ceiling joist, preferably its center, you should be able to hang fairly heavy objects from them. If you are somewhat familiar with construction, the joist are the beams of wood that run horizontally across your ceiling holding the ceiling panels (drywall, plasterboard, etc) and roof in place; they along with the wall studs (usually 2x4 wood beams that run vertically from floor to ceiling) form the initial "framing" of any structure. You can do a search on ceiling joist and wall studs to get more information on this. You can use a stud finder to find either a wall stud or ceiling joist and if you have a textured ceiling as we do, you can use a piece of cardboard, place it on the ceiling and then run the stud finder over that, there are videos on youtube on how to use these as well. Hope this was helpful and good luck.

Should I worry about electrical wire in the ceiling? Or they hiding in the wall and not ceiling? I really don’t know
@llewodcm202 жыл бұрын
If you have ceiling lights, yes. Even if you don't, yes. You don't know what's behind the wall or where you're drilling, so turn off the power at the breaker box before drilling into spaces you can't see.

Is there an alternative method to screw these hooks in without a drill? Command hooks are simply not strong enough for outdoor use and I don’t have a lot of money to be buying a drill.

I would gain access to the attic or space above where you drilled and see what was up there and if you drilled into something. It's most likely a stud of some kind. You can see if you can move the hole over a bit as well once you see what's in the attic.
