POLINI MAXI HI-SPEED VARIATOR
If you're looking for the bang for the buck for a GTV/GTS 250, this is it!
Pure adrenaline, emotions, acceleration, power. These are the main sensations transmitted by the Polini Maxi Hi-Speed variator
Characterized by the nickel chrome steel pin with carbon-based DLC treatment, with an innovative technology specific for racing and aeronautical applications intended for sliding and high wear components.
This sports variator is built to comply with high-quality manufacturing standards. The bushing has improved lubrication through two fitted o-rings. This makes for less friction compared to variators of other competitors.
The Maxi Speed Control achieved top results regarding performance and reliability in many performance tests! This variator is available in two versions - the "Maxi Speed Control" with 6/8 roller weights or the "Maxi Speed 9/12 roller weights" with 9/12 roller weights. The most obvious characteristic of the "Maxi Speed 9/12 roller weights" are the 9 or 12 roller weights as compared to only 6 such weights that are standard.
The acceleration of your engine will especially benefit from the precise and evenly distributed axial load. The typical jerking of 4-stroke engines while starting the scooter will be reduced to a minimum due to a more even load distribution.
However, one thing that stays the same for both systems is: improved acceleration combined with a higher top speed!

Great video, thanks man! Two questions- 1. Have you noticed any change to fuel consumption? 2. Any issues with durability to the belt or rollers? The forums have me torn. There’s obviously no contest in terms of performance for the Polini 🛵💨

Hey! Thanks a lot for the comment and the support! Appreciate you! Great questions! 1: I haven’t noticed that much in fuel consumption, to be honest, it would be really hard to tell, but I did notice a difference when swapping a performance exhaust in compared with the stock one, I have never liked the stock exhaust tho but that is what I would use with my eyes closed if I were going on a long adventure, is way more reliable than any other exhaust in the market. I personally think, that if you're looking for reliability and better MPG, OEM parts are going to be your best friends, performances parts are intended for hight intensity and they are not design for longevity. 2: This is a very good question and a very important one! I haven’t personally measured anything with accuracy to be able to say something solid about it, but from my personal experience, I have put already over 17,000 miles on the MAXI HI•SPEED Variator and I have changed my belt and rollers already three times every 8k-9k miles (I used the 9 Polini rollers of 9,2g with the Piaggio OEM belt), I been tempted to try the POLINI belt but I think the Piaggio one last way longer than any other aftermarket belt, Both belts have been removed after riding them for over 8k miles and shows slightly sign of wear and small cracks but nothing to worry about it, I think I would try to go over 10k on my next one lol, even tho Piaggio recommends changing your rollers every 3k miles and the belt every 6k miles, I do both at 8k-9k and haven’t noticed anything wrong with it, In the other hand, a couple months ago I installed the S.I.P Drive Pulley, The Polini MAXI Speed Clutch & The Speed Bell, and man!! What an improvement!! Video is coming very soon! Can't wait to share it with y’all! Peace✌

Wow, thanks for the information! I just purchased a used 2015 GTS with a little belt slap. I figured I might as well upgrade if I’m going to open the transmission anyhow. After reading this I feel more confident installing the Polini! Probably going to get an exhaust too. Maybe Arrow? Not sure yet. Can’t wait to see the other parts in action!! 👀

@@beehauss My pleasure! That's awesome! Congratulations! what color did you got? Well, in my personal opinion, every time I get an used Vespa, (depending on the milage) the first thing I do before putting some serious miles on it, is: Oil change, gearbox oil change, belt, rollers, sliders and inspect the clutch, bearing, seals and all the transmission components as well as cleaning them all and everything inside the CVT cover, so you make sure everything is nice and running so you can start to keep track of your services more accurately, because you never know when was the last time the bike was truly serviced the right way! if you're going to go over all theses things I recommend you watching this video: ►► FULL Detailed Service - Vespa GT/GTS/GTV kzbin.info/www/bejne/qITOi56VpL51qZY Peace!✌

Thank you for this video. I have one question. In the scale with the Nm numbers it says 75-83 Nm. Why do you only do 65? Thank you very much
@TheScooterBud
@TheScooterBud Жыл бұрын
Hey! Thank you so much for the support and the comment! Thats actually a good question to clarify! Since Piaggio is made in EU, all the manual specification are in metrics, meaning that they use Newton-meters (Nm) and since I'm here in USA, they only use here foot-pounds (ft/lbs). 😵‍💫 One foot-pound (ft/lb) is equal to 1.356 newton-meters (Nm). To convert newton-meters (Nm) to foot-pounds (ft/lbs) all you need to do is divide your figure (Nm) by 1.356. Peace✌

What do you recommend Polini, Malossi or J. Costa variator for my Piaggio Liberty 150?
@TheScooterBud
@TheScooterBud Жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the comment! Well, I think that’s more like a personal preference, they are all good, recognized brands that manufacture hight end parts, some have more experience and time in the market than other. I personally always go with Polini! But I don’t have any specify reason why, I have used them all in the past but I always put Polini at the top of my list! Peace✌️

Do you know how kind of grease is?. Lithium or molybdenum?. The spring is harder or softer than the original?.
@TheScooterBud
@TheScooterBud 2 жыл бұрын
Polini states that the ingredients are (Lithium & Molybdenum disulphide) it is specific for CVT Variator. Solid lubrican able to firmly stick to lubricated surfaces and fill the microscopic holes. The Spring included with the kit is “harder” than the OEM. Thanks 🤙

Hello can I ask you a few questions? I will install same polini kit, but i want to buy new belt polini belt is Width in mm: 20,7 Height in mm: 13,6 Total lenght in mm: 947 My original belt is 954x22.6mm. If i put the polini belt should i have some problems, because is shorter than original. Or polini belt is something like sport and because of this is shorter?

Hey! Thanks for comment! That's a good question! I've never use any other aftermarket belt rather than the OEM from Piaggio. all these aftermarket ones are supposed to be "high performance" and the logical thing would be to install everything Polini as they also recommend, but as far as my knowledge goes these doesn't last as long as the OEM from Piaggio, I have always stick with the Piaggio one and I been able to use them for over 10,000 miles without any issue, even tho they recommend to replace the belt every 6,000 miles... Peace✌

Stock vs polini blue spring. Which one is stiffer? Total wiegh of those 9 rollers?

Hey! Thanks for the comment! Yes, the Polini is “stiffer” and if you do the math 9.2g x 9 = 82.8g total weight. Peace✌️

@@TheScooterBud great man but I have the same kit under my Honda Dylan at the moment whit the blue spring the 3 small springs an polini belt I don’t really she a differents bit more power above 100 and top around 115-120 normal 100 easy 110 slow I think am gonna put the 170cc malossi cilinder on it I have seen a KZbin video it go’s 140 km with that I believe that’s a good speed for this scooter 🛵💨
@TheScooterBud
@TheScooterBud 2 жыл бұрын
@@eddie_cooper that's awesome bro! well I personally don't not much about it, but I have read that with bigger displacement you'll have to change to a heavier weights than the one that comes with it, which are 9.2g, For example, I believe this kit also fit 300cc GTS and Super, but you will have to change the rollers to 12.5g weights. Not sure what displacement your bike has but it might be related to something like that, if you're looking for top speed improvement, the bore kit is the one that would give you what you want, but remember that always you swap a performance part you'll need to compensate other things to be able to make it work flawlessly!

Peace✌️
