How to install TracTuff VTC 40° Limiter

Most K series engine owners own a 50° intake cam gear... so it made sense to limit the 50° gear rather than ask customers to go through the trouble of finding a 25° TSX gear and have it modified. Not to mentions, that process is tedious... as you must find/ buy a 25° RBB gear, pay to have it shipped, find a capable machine shop to handle the modification and ship it to them, pay them their fee, and ultimately pay for the return shipping. This is the easiest way to limit cam advance along with extra protection.

I think you forgot to show how to actually install the limiter lol. Presumably its that pin that isn't there one second and then suddenly is there the next second

If you look at 1:58 I’ve been following the guide that’s included in the limiter. You literally drop it in like the picture. There’s not much to it

Were your bolts really this easy to remove from the face of the gear? The ones in my rbc gear feel like they have loctite in them and won't budge. I nearly stripped a torx bolt head

You can put it in whatever state you want. I was only showing how to put the pin

yes its needed.otherwise your intake cam will be out of timing

The limiter works by placing the pin in a specific cavity of the VTC gear, where it can float freely, ultimately limiting the amount of advance the motor sees... regardless of what the map/ tune calls for.

@@bobbydelamar606 ECU controls the intake camshaft advance over a range of 50 crank degrees. But this VTC is limited to 40 so the valves don't come into contact with he piston just in case. I'm running a dragcartel 2.2 cams

@@kevintran25 Nice! I was thinking of getting the Drag Cartel 45 deg. But from dynos I've seen you don't need more than 40...? The K24 responds well around 35 deg before vtec and tapering off at higher rpms. Is that true?

@@bobbydelamar606 yeah that's true, drag cartel 45 is expensive. VS what you can simply do like my VTC for less. You'll never hit 45 degrees tbh. I was going to run the 50 degrees VTC without anything. But I just wanted reassurance that valves won't smash into the piston in case ECU glitches or a slight deviation from the engine.

Does the pin just straight up sit in there freely? I have the 50vtc gear and I’m gonna put the 40 limiter pin in it

Yeah, once you close it it will stay in place with the gear always spinning

Hey mate thanks for the great video, i got the K24A3 engine and the stock VTC gear (RBB with 25 degrees) is gone bad and got to replace it, is it possible to put the RBC 50 degrees VTC with the lock pin as you did on the video and install it as a bolt on without programmimg the ECU? Can this cause damage to the engine? Or the ECU will use only the 25 degrees even if the VTC is up to 40 degrees? Please let me know if you know and you are sure, i ask because i plan to get a 50 degrees VTC later anyways, so i thought bying it now, install it without reprogramming and later when i get the money and other bolt on to program everything together. Please let me know, subscribed 🖤❤️

I’m pretty sure if it’s program to use 25 degrees then it will only go to 25 degrees

@@Loyal_Honda_Fan search tractuff VTC pin on google and it should show. The VTC I bought from the dealer, part number should be in the video. I’m not 100% sure but I do know the ECU controls the VTC so it would make sense it would stay at 25 degrees
