How to install uprev and arc

i was asked about installing the arc licence on up rev. this is my best attemps to show how to install it. i also show how to install arc licence as well. hope this makes your install faster !! up rev is a grate program to tune with for a grate value.

Just to clear things up, when you buy the arc license does it already come with; ex: rolling anti lag, 2 step etc or is that something you have to create on your own and then add it to the car using the arc license?

Followed everything precisely but when I went to toggle the arc features to on, it wouldn’t allow a flash because of the rpm “timing on map1 “ was too low? I don’t have the exact message up at the moment but I’m a little lost! Hope you can help.

@@angelanguiano4166 u own a maxima 5.5 I would suggest mailing in your ecu to Up rev (expensive) Z1 motorsports,(semi affordable) Nisformance,(best bang for the buck) or Admin tuning (expensive). So u got some research to do here check which company works for u they are all good and reputable.

great video i have a few questions: i am about to turbocharge my 350z via the turbonetics kit (quite simmilar to the yellow one yo had build) but here in Germany where i live a tune with a standalone like the haltech is nearly impossible because the OBDII has to be still accessable which leaves me to this only option Which licence should i purchase for this route (tuner or pro) and is the tuning still possible with the stock MAF sensor or is there a way to install a MAP sensor to read the right airflow for the FI engine with a reflashprogram like the uprev (or ecutek)? p.s. love your channel is really down to the basics nothing crazy which makes it really relatable to the most of us and i have learned really much from all of your clips. No not at all, actually the maf sensor will throw a code because it will see too much air and the car will run dangerously lean, you’ll need to get a tune before driving it supercharged. Sorry I know it may be a question asked before, but the “licenses” essentially put the firmware on the ecu and that’s what you are paying for. After you initially flash the car you can go back anytime and “edit” the tune for free? To make it short, say I buy a new part and need to retune the car, I don’t have to buy the licenses again right?

Once you add the license to your car it stays with the car and can be tuned as manny times as needed for as long as you have the car. And the tunes are stock any tunes have to be built by you or a tuner. The arc adds features after you have a license.

I don't currently have cruise control to optimize the arc , can the arc still be loaded on until I get cruise control? Also all I would need is to buy my own cable to send you etunes correct?

You’ll need a cable to do any future changes or to get a e tune, unless the local person will let you use the cable as well, I think it’s best to buy your own cable so your Not ever stuck not being able to change the tune.

I think any cable can do a back to stock flash, if not up rev can help you get that cable to work at least to go back to stock.

Well in my experience as long as the fuel and timing are ok cars really don’t blow up. Also for added-comfort Nissan has a grate system for regarding timing based on knock, so it’s not likely you’ll be able to really hurt it with a tune.

I’ve had issues as well. They are constantly updating and changing it. The software is now just 1 program that does logging and flashing , all you use now is the “rom editor” the old cypher program isn’t used any more. You can’t get the tune from your truck to down load or you can down load the new program from up rev (rom editor) to your laptop?

So wait. 9:49 you explain "simplified timing". Is this an actual feature in UpRev if you obtain the Arc license? Like, for example, could I just obtain the ARC license and then the actual timing tables (original/real timing tables) actually appear when using ARC? Or is this only an added feature in addition to another feature (For example, to use for Rolling Antilag). Basically I'm asking: If I obtain the ARC license, can I use "Simplified timing" to tune the vehicle itself? This would help my tuner immensely!! Please let me know, thanks!

Ok so .....don’t get hung up on the timing value too much because we can not calculate the amount of time it takes from when the spark is fired till the cylinder is actually at peak cylinder pressure. If you think about this too much you will loose sight of what’s important, which is basically knowing how much Timing advance can be added until the motor is at its peak. On the dyno your tuner will increase or decrease timing based on comparing pulls during testing. He is used to a number in a table with a timing deg. But the number in Uprev is simply the amount or time before peak cylinder pressure where the spark should be fired. But basically increase the time value and timing is increased, if your logging the first pull look at where the timing value is and decide where an increase should be added , then adjust and test again , in the next log you’ll see a higher value , this gives you a rough idea how much of a timing increase is expected from your chosen increment of adjustment. I feel like I’m making this sound more complicated then it is lol ......not the best teacher it’s all stuck in my head lol

Oh and on the arc license it does add a real timing table but not to all roms , so far all the 370, g37 cars get the new arc simplified timing and I think the hr might also but not sure yet .....I am on the dyno with a 350z turbo right now and it does not have the ability for simplified timing the g35 last week did not have it either .....that’s all I know so far.

Yeah, my tuner/friend was explaining to me roughly the same thing when he was tuning my RevUp Turbo, but he said it was hard to figure out exact timing due to no legit timing values. He was going to plugin an odb2 scanner and do pulls with timing on that sometime this spring to adjust timing that way (to make sure its perfect), but it would have been so much easier if ARC had it. And damn lol. I have an 06 RevUp, so im sure UpRev didnt add it to that year, either ha. I may consider contacting them and seeing if they did / plan on adding it to earlier models. I'm positive i could be making far more power if my tuner had a direct timing chart lol. Also, thank you. I personally was hoping you were just going to push out a "Basic UpRev Tutorial" video lol

The arc features can be customized, but they come with presets so once there turned on they work on the default values. For launch control , rolling anti lag , ect.

Ya I’m still playing with the regular burn time table tunes....it’s sorta strange the other day I was slowly increasing timing and watching the log with every numerical increase and I feel like the increase is not linear with the timing increase. I’m still learning things as well. But I’ll ask the Uprev dudes next week if they have any tips on that table. I can defiantly tune these cars by slowly increasing and watching the log till i get to peak, however i do feel like it would be faster if I had a better idea of any modifiers or a basic equation for the increase. I may buy my own older vq35 powered car and see if I can perfect a strategy for nailing this down faster for you guys. Tunning is so fun!! I love a challenge .....I’ll share what I learn.

Why does it cost so much to tune these VQ’s ? Lol I have the cable with one ARC license how much normally does it cost for somebody to tune it ? I don’t want to make a mistake lol I have plenum spacer, headers, resonated test pipes, catback exhaust and a pop charger.

I think remote tuning is around 300 I think. dyno tuning is more like 400-600 just depends on the tuner and how much tuning they have to do fir your car.

Well as long as you don’t need to change it it’s ok, other wise you’ll need to know who tuned it or have the cable. This way you can re tune if you make changes.

Yes , one you license the computer it will say the ecu has a license right next to the ecu number. .....then once you turn on the arc and flash it again it will use the arc license. It’s easier to buy both at the same time from up rev because every time you have to buy a new product from them you’ll need to send them a ecu license report then that modify the file and send it back before you can add the new feature to the ecu.

Whats if lets say i end up adding another aftermarket part to my car after is flash tuned would it do any decent amount of performance change if i were to flash it againd? If i were to do that ill have to purchase another Arc license? Or pro license

All the license and the arc do is allow you to go in and re tune the car for any modifications. So re-flashing itself does nothing unless the parameters are changed to fit the new modification. Every time you change something on the car it will usually benefit you to change the calibration and reflash. Most of my customers pay me one dyno tune fee to tune it the first time. Then when they change or modify things like exhaust or intake or turbo, they come back later for a much less expensive retune usually only takes me one hour.

You’ll only gain in those areas if the time is changed to do so. Basicly when you flash the initial tune in there it’s an editable copy of the original tune so nothing is really modified. Once you open that new editable tune and start modifying parameters based on how the car ask there’s all kinds of possibilities like what you were saying better throttle response better fuel and timing and of course more power . I am lucky to have a Dino so that I have a way to change these parameters and see measurable Gaines so that I know what’s working what’s not working. Some of these changes can be done over email with an experience tuner reading your data logs and making changes. Tuning is more of like an art than anything. Sorry for the delayed response I hope this helps

Any time you want to open or edit your tune file you have to be connected to your Tunning cable. Check to see if it showed your cable info when your connected then it should work.

You could use the get stock rom file tab, down load the stock file matching your cars computer, then you should be able to open it and modify that file.

If you not doing down pipes then I’d say get a mid pipe first, but if your going to do down pipes I think your fine to tune after that.

I am not quite understanding the Arc license concept. In your example you turned on some ARC Toggles. If you were to then flash the ARC changes it would reduce the ARC license by 1. If you then went back in and played with more ARC settings. You would have to purchase another ARC license in order to be able to flash it again? Each ARC flash to the same ECU requires the purchase of an ARC license?

Once you turn on arc and flash it, you’ll see that every time you plug in to the ecu to change the tune it will say what the ecu has , so after it has Uprev and arc it will say something like “arc license” I can’t remember exactly but you only have to buy 1 license and 1 arc for each car. Funny because I’m adding arc to a 370z today lol

I don’t think so because Uprev built the feature in to there custom programming, so you need to flash up Rev first , then turn on arc features. The stock Nissan ecu doesn’t have these options.
