I tried to get a blank void installation to start with openbox, but I can’t get it to work. There isn’t a dbus folder to link to and openbox doesn’t come with a session manager itself and I don’t know, which one I could install. ...help?

The void project is in upheaval right now. Lead Dev left AGAIN and of course there was drama. Void Linux generally is a great distro but I'm tired of all the drama in open source.
@Dan01-014 жыл бұрын
There’s nothing to worry about. If the developers kept silent about everything, no one would be making a deal out of these dramas. I’ll keep using void as I know it’s here to stay, and perhaps it will eventually get forked just like the other big boys. Void has the best stability in a rolling release distro

DutchGhost nonsense what? I’ve never had it break and I’ve used it for so long

Good video Irish. Why did you decide to use KDE? Isn't it demanding in terms of system resources?
@IrishluckLinux4 жыл бұрын
Someone requested KDE. Resources are a bit high but not too much compared to GNOME.

Thank you for your great videos and taking some of your time to make them. As @Drumpf_4_All is pointing out, Void is in upheaval these times. What is your opinion about this fact? I come from Arch and I am interested by trying Void but is it worth? I sincerely hope they will succeed and become successful as they deserve it. Fortunately these problems shouldn't impact the project and i will try it for real install (maybe a VM first). Thanks again for your work Buddy ;-)

I think its a great distro if you are tired of Arch and don't want to go to Gentoo. It really does have that Arch feel without the drama of Arch.

@lucasp1353 жыл бұрын
most likely late but might help someone who stumbles upon this comment: to add/remove users to/from a group during the installer you have to press Space, didn't see any mention of it anywhere and I just kept trying all my keys until it worked

How do i disable LightDM? I switched to KDE from Cinnamon and I want to use SDDM
@IrishluckLinux4 жыл бұрын
You need to delete the symbolic link of lightdm. I believe it is in /etc/sv. Then create another link to sddm
@rzrr4 жыл бұрын
@@IrishluckLinux But when i test SDDM it shows a blinking line for probably a milisecond and it gets me back in KDE. I literally have no idea if it's gonna work or not since I tested LXDM (it wasn't lightdm) and it just executed without going to the CLI or anything else.
@manwithonesub83603 жыл бұрын
sudo unlink /var/service/lightdm sudo ln -u /etc/sv/(the package name) /var/service Just type in these commands and you should be fine
