Do you know of a shift lever where the rod attaches to the rear of the lever pivot so the shift pattern is reversed? I’d love to have a reversed shift pattern but still want the factory qs to work.

How much smoother are the gear changes with the quickshifter? How much does it level the "nod"? Tested tenere and plan to buy, but confused that my companion will not be comfortable because of the twitching.

The quick shifter allows you to shift gears without having to grab the clutch or letting go of the throttle. Eliminating some of the "nod" when shifting gears.

Doesnt it have dogbox trans like every other manual motorcycle trans ever made ever? In that case youd never need the clutch anyway except start and stop......

The quick shifter is awesome cause you can keep on the gas and bang gears, if you try that without the QS it'd be way more rough on your gearbox. Can you do it? Sure. Should you? Probably depends on how nice you are to your bike hah

@@rmatvmc yeah thats true. Trying to bang gears under load at high rpm doesn't work well. Gotta finger that clutch cr125 riders know. Braap braaap

just have to apply slight pressure to the shifter and then blip the throttle. No extra parts needed, Yamaha reliability stats and no extra crap. You can do this without the extra dohickie.

Beware this greatly reduces the reliability of the transmission. It was never designed to have the quick shifter. Every shift and your messing up synchros and your transmission wont last more than 50k.... stupid unnecessary downgrade for a dual sport. With the detuned R7 engine.

The gearbox dosent have synchros and considering it plugs right in where the ecu recognized it makes it seemed like it was designed for a quick shifter.

​@@chrisverkitus6280you are correct they don't have synchros I'm sure the guy was meaning dogs but he is still correct it does reduce the longevity of your transmission because in theory and in application are two separate things

Speculation. This is an OE part that is currently on sale in the EU market under part number: BNW-181A0-01-00. The OEM doesn't sell genuine accessories that will knowingly hamper the reliabilty of their product, especially without a GIGANTIC disclaimer to the owner/purchaser stating that it may. If you fear this will cause premature wear in YOUR motorcycle, then I would suggest YOU don't buy it. Don't lead people astray based on your own opinion.

@rmatvmc I picked up the kit, installed it, and activated it without issue. But when I went for a test ride, for some reason it absolutely will not activate to shift into any of the gears. Is this common issue with the QS or something else going on. Please advise.

Hmm, what exactly is it doing? Does it not work while you are going over 12mph and over 2,000 rpm? Are you meaning it shifts hard into gear, or what is going wrong? The only time it's going to work us under hard acceleration while slamming through the gears. All it's going to do is cut engine power for that split second while you shift, so you don't have to use the clutch. -Charles

@@rmatvmc I’m not sure if I understand how it’s supposed to operate then. When I accelerate it rev lines at red and does not engage into 2nd; I’m surely over 12 mph and over 2000; I’ll try slamming through but not sure if I need to open throttle to see if it’ll engage. I can toe up and down with no problems though the gears.

@@amansoor1125 Ok so just to make sure I understand correctly, with the engine revved up in 1st, you physically can't get it to shift into 2nd? As in, you are pulling up on the shifter, and it just won't go to second? Is the "QS" visible on the screen? -Charles

@@rmatvmc QS is visible on the screen. I can physically shift to 2nd and thru all gears as when I pull up on the shifter. My understanding was the quick shifter shift without engaging the clutch. Thanks for your feedback.

@@amansoor1125 Ok, that's right. You don't need to pull the clutch lever in when accelerating and going over 12mph and over 2,000 rpm, but you still have to use the shift lever to shift. It should shift smooth when you pull up on the lever. It's only for acceleration/up-shifts, not deceleration or down shifts. If it really isn't going into gear as you pull up on the shift lever, you might need to have a shop check out your bike, it should go into gear regardless of having the quick shifter on or not. Now, if the shift is hard and sounds like the gears are grinding, that would tell me the quick shifter isn't doing it's job. If that is the case, you'll want to head over to our website and click the link to talk to our warranty department. Let me know what you find. -Charles
