Nice video. I would be interested in knowing more about Installation troubleshooting, what should one look for during installs. How many cameras can be viewed at a time. Can they be auto-discovered if they are given an IP range. Things like that. Would appreciate if you could make videos on that.

Great detailed tutorial. My problem is that after following this and adding a Onvif camera stream I get no video in the monitor :-) Any suggestions? I am using Chrome and hosting on Ubuntu 16.0.4 ltsp. I can get the stream using VLC but only at 15fps

Do you mean can you run Ubuntu in a VM? i currently run Ubuntu in a VM and it runs zoneminder without any problem.

did you edit the php.ini file? sudo vi /etc/php/7.0/apache2/php.ini - add your timezone date.timezone = You need to set the date.timezone to whatever timezone you are in. Then restart apache and zoneminder for it to pick up the changes.

I entered Czech, that's where I am, but it did not work. I had to enter america / newyork and it goes but I did not set ip ip camera.

here is a list of supported timezones for php. You can click on your region and find your exact timezone.

Yes you will need mysql, zoneminder using it for its backend db.

How can you update zoneminder, just went through and did it this way, seems to have installed 1.29, current release is 1.31. Kind of a linux noob, sry if its a dumb question

There is definitely not alot of documentation on upgrading zoneminder. Here is the the webpage i use, you will want to scroll down to the section covering the version of ubuntu you are running. I will work on tutorial for this to put on youtube, but it will probably be a couple of weeks before i get it uploaded. wiki.zoneminder.com/Common_Issues_with_Zoneminder_Installation_on_Ubuntu Let me know if this helps, or if you are just going to wait for the tutorial.....

just installed a fresh ubuntu server but after executing 'sudo systemctl start zoneminder' I get this error . Job for zoneminder.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status zoneminder.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details. Anyone got any ideas why? Thanks.
