Nearly half the nation are convicted felons for victimless non-violent offenses who are PERMANENTLY BANNED from possessing a firearm or even a single bullet, for life! (Example; DUI offenses without an accident!) The ETERNAL felony is based on what could have happened rather than what actually did happen! (Ironically, they still have voting rights!) GUN RIGHTS need to be BANNED from everyone and not just NON-VIOLENT white-collar offenders! VOTE to PERMANENTLY BAN GUN RIGHTS, MADD, and the NRA for fairness in EQUALITY ... (If non-violent felons can't have 2nd amendment rights, then nobody should!)

My one gun for my childhood was a Rem 12ga pump 870 Wingmasted pawn store gun. I got a slug barrel one Christmas, and that increased my hunting distance to a good 125yds or so. Before that I was shooting round ball reloads out to 75yds. You had to be good at stealthfull movement and concealment. The same gun was my turkey, coyote, dove, rabbit, squirrel gun. I am 60 now and still have that gun.

"One gun for the rest of your life?" About 30 - 40 years ago, Skeeter Skelton wrote an article about that question. After extolling the virtues of the .30-06, the .357 Magnum and several others, he ended the article with a huge surprise: a .22 L. R. rifle - can take big game, small game and in a pinch, makes a pretty good leather punch! Thanks again guys!!!

I agree until you add in home defense. The 12 ga is more versatile to me because over penetration can happen in small homes even with a 22 lr. This is just my opinion.

@@brianwest5348 Good comment, Brian. Personally, I would pick a mid-length barrel .357 where I live (wilderness). I'd carry light, fast .38 +P for the first 3 or 4 and higher power .357 loads for the rest if the cylinders. Reasons are: 1. I carry daily everywhere but the courthouse and the hospital (prohibited places), 2. Always have it with me, even working on my neighbor's ranch, 3. Will drop anything where I live. Except for concealed carry, I would also have to pick a 12 gauge! So incredibly versatile!

@GeezerWheels
@GeezerWheels Жыл бұрын
@@ShittyCut Grendel - Great choice for hunting deer and for self defense, bit in my semi-rural location, it would not be good for 90% of the shots I actually take: prairie dogs, raccoons, skunks, squirrels (which eat my car wires). But a .22 is almost useless (not to mention illegal) for deer and elk (also literally in my back yard). The "one gun" option is very close to impossible for me - like "one vehicle" - nope, I need a high gas mileage car for travel and a pickup for hauling. One gun? MAYBE a 6.5 with full house loads for hunting and SUB-sonic cast bullet hand loads for small game. OPPS, I also hunt waterfowl, doves and grouse. One gun??? Impossible - without giving up hunting. Maybe a 12 gauge - slugs for big game, bird shot for birds and home defense. But I can't conceal any rifle or shotgun. Ugh... back to the .357 or ????? Give up bird hunting and I'd go with a .357 or good semi-auto pistol. What a horrible delimma!!! Great comments guys!!!!!!!!
@ShittyCut
@ShittyCut Жыл бұрын
@@GeezerWheels for me I don't hunt anything but I see it would be a problem if I had to. I guess for the rodents you make traps while shooting big game with the grendel. That is how I would get around your issue! Toyota is known for putting peanut oil on the wires, which rodents eat. I had to change my wifes knock sensor on her 4runner. One car definitely won't work either lol but I'd pick my Trans Am!

I was driving my dump truck, a 1979 Chevy C-70 and I had rolled down the windows because it didn't have a working defroster. When I left his house and we got out on the main road, I rolled my window up. I noticed he was shivering and I asked him if he really liked to freeze, why didn't he roll up the window. He looked at me with all seriousness and said "the window's broke, there's no buttons to roll it up!" He had never been in a vehicle with manual windows! I can't argue with Jerry's logic on the one gun to have but as a Rifleman at heart, I hope I'm never limited to just a shotgun! One of the first guns I ever shot was a .357 with wad-cutters and it was extremely accurate. Made me feel like I was a natural, but I had more work to do to end up where I aspired to be. My friend and I carried it out in the AZ Mohave desert with snake charmer loads should we run into a Mohave Green, which we did, but it was not bothering us, so off he went down the dry sand wash. And, I'm going with a .410 Henry lever action with bird, buck and slugs for "One and one only" gun. I have micro red dot on it which never needs batteries and it's a side gate load. That's my gun and I'm stickin' to it.

Shotgun is a great answer. Versatile ammo, multiple applications, superior stopping power. I got an old 1983 mossberg 500AG with a 28in vent-ribbed barrel. All it needed was a magazine tube spring and through cleaning. Wood furniture.

Glad to see that Jerry agrees with what I have been saying for years. The only difference is I use a 20 gauge. Taking everything up to a black bear one 16th of an inch shy of Boone Crockett and then down to doves rabbits. Just get Appropriate ammo for what you’re doing. If you put it were supposed to go it work. And my handguns are all 357 magnum or 38. Usually I use 38. But it works to get the job done. It worked for us in law enforcement back in the 70s just fine

I use 20ga as well because of shoulder & back issues but having a 12 on hand for any kind of shtf is something I can't seem to let go of simply because of the variety of shells.

S&W model 28 Highway patrolman. Thing is built like a tank. I agree the 357 is a versatile and powerful cartridge. If it ever gets into rifles, don't overlook a 30.06. Another very universal cartridge with a wide selection of bullets. Been around more than 100 years.

The Model 28 was just a Model 27, but less finely finished, back in the day. They were both N frame, square butt, 6 shot .357s.

Everyone forgets about drillings and combo guns, you could have a 12 gauge side by side with a rifle barrel underneath or a single shot 12 or 20 on top and a 223 underneath
