Nice presentation. Yours is the first one I've come across that actually showed where to place the stands and at what mounting point, vs just telling you where they go.

I just bought a midget so these vids are just what I need. Working on getting the lights working. Broke the left rear tail light Lens trying to get that off.

Excellent video. Only thing I would add is the importance of having a level, solid surface to jack from. Jacks love to sink or tip over on gravel driveways.

Good advice Andy. Even a Midget will hurt like hell if it falls on your head. Better safe than dead.

Nice one Andy, just the video I’ve been looking for. Had my Midget for over a year now but never jacked her up mainly because she’s run ok but also because I didn’t really know how to do it safely.......I do now! Ta very muchly old chap.

Not for the purists I'll admit, jacking with a bit of wood can be risky. But im glad it can help some people @

John Twist (LEGEND) recommends using a block of wood on the rear diff with a hole in it so the plug itself doesn’t bear any weight. I use this method with the trolley Jack and works well. Also, my plug is all knackered up so I want to spare it any more harm!

Get there John! Many thanks mate. I know a lot frown on using blocks of wood to jack sometimes, but need must a lot of the time! Yeah I can do that. Listing all the places I use... I'll add it to my list. Next big job is rostyle wheel re furb

A buddy altered a scissors jack to use a lug nut instead of the ring to raise and lower it, and then used a pneumatic impact driver to raise and lower it. It was SOOOO fast, it was wonderful. Just kind of tossed the car up in the air, and dropped it to the ground, one speed setting shy of causing damage. He was a little reckless, but it did work.

@@AndysMGAdventures $13 scissor jack adapter on Amazon though this buddy welded his on 20+ years ago. Its even perfectly safe if your impact driver doesn't have many RPMs, lol.

Thank you for your videos, always informative and fun. However I do not understand this one. The moment the car is with front wheels on the ramps, and you jack it up at the rear, it would slide off the ramps, because the handbrake is only on the rear wheels, at least mine does...?
@AndysMGAdventures
@AndysMGAdventures 2 ай бұрын
The ramps are notched so the wheel sits snugly inside each little cut out . Hence no rolling back off them!

Nice demonstration in jacking the MG Midget. How effective are the rear shocks mounted at that angle. Thought they should be more up and down. I am restoring a Midget and one of the things I have replaced is a badly dented cross member.

So helpful!! Made me feel steady enough to go buy the equipment to jack up my 1974 midget. I was wondering if you would be so kind to do a video for uber newbies like me? I have tons of old books and manuals but I learn so much better from videos than the black and white drawings. I have no Dave to help me:). I would really love a video from a midget owner such as yourself who goes over the location of each of the engine parts. My fuel pump was so small I didn't recognize it. Perhaps advice on what to beware before disassembling from your experience. Mg rehabbers already know everything( so I understand if it's not what you think your watchers want to see) but I can't find a basic video on a MG midget. Even the famous John Tester doesn't open up a bonnet and just map it all out. It's all segmented and he doesn't do it on a midget only MGB 's and there are differences. I have some parts in my engine and under the car by the back left tire that I still can't identify. Once I identify the parts and where they are in my car I feel more sure about reading up on them or trying to piece MGB similarities to tackle them. I am in the process of changing the master slave and cylinder and only because I watched videos.... the books are just too abstract for my newbie brain. Just a wish, no pressure. Love the channel regardless.
