@trevorcollins92975 жыл бұрын
Hi David,thank you so much for your reply. there is a technique I would love you to do a video on and that would be how to cut a perfect circle from a piece of about 3/4inch plywood with a circumference of about 3 inches using hand tools if possible.The reason is I am currently making a whirligig and need to make a hub for the propeller. I do have a jigsaw but is getting a bit old now and doesn't cut a very edge no matter what blade I put in, I really should just buy a new one but was wondering if its possible to do by hand. All the very best...Trev.
@RusticDavid5 жыл бұрын
Hi Trevor hmmmm! Do you have a semi decent hand saw? If so draw the circle on a piece of thick enough wood for your hub then drill a hole in the center screw the piece on the edge of a table or something secure then saw off straight lines that touch the edge of the circle keep doing this and rotating the work piece you will end up with a rough hexagon then use a rasp or sandpaper to round the corners continue removing corners until it’s round it’s interesting I will give it a try too and video it best of luck David
@RusticDavid5 жыл бұрын
Ps if you have a clamp use it to keep wood from turning whilst sawing be safe David

Btw if the hole in the block is for the cable and your drill is short you have 2 options or extend the drill either buy extension or weld it to round stock or take 2 pieces of wood and cut a groove in one you can use a chisel if you have one and glue the 2 blocks together creating a hole through th middle
