Also I cut my discharge pipe, and placed a rubber coupling on it, connected that to a extention tube, attached that to an elbow, then connected that to my P trap to the sink. Everything lined up perfect, and just waiting on the longer Washing machine hose. Should work fine then. For my first plumbing job ever I think I did pretty good.

I believe I did that and it worked. I replaced the shark bite hose, with a shark bite valve connected supply line to that, and then extended it to the sink. No leaks. I was about done, but found that my washing machine hose was to short. I'm going to get one tomm, and I'm sure it will work.

Hi,I have an old house 1913, with a bathroom that was probably done in the 60's or 70's, I'm guessing it has a hard line water supply under the bathroom sink I want to put on a new faucet, I finally got all the connections loose but at the bottom I believe possibly a feral could be still holding on is there a gentle way to get that free also the connections for the faucet that I want to change are practically melded to the sink I've seen videos where they say hit it with a hammer and screwdriver or drill it out I'm going to go very slow with a tiny drill bit but how do I get that feral free without yanking on the pipes below? thank you so much!
@TheOldkid8882 жыл бұрын
Hello Lori La Rue Hueg, There would have to be a nut and ferrule where a valve would be located or a 1/2 by 3/8th compression coupling which would have the nut below it. Can you cut the pipe below the nut and ferrule and put a fitting on there? This will allow you to remove the countertop and easily remove the old faucet and install the new one. What kind of connections go to the faucets? is it soldered in or are there any adaptors that go into the faucet? Get back to me when you get a chance....Al

Great video!!! one question do you still need a gasket on the PVC/PEX tubing conical end that goes on the toilet??
@TheOldkid8883 жыл бұрын
Hello Edgard Aspilcueta, Good question! The answer is no. Once they came out with the pvc supply with the cone shaped end,' a gasket was no longer required. The older flat toilet supplies required the rubber or plastic washer. Thanks for commenting and enjoy your week! Al

@derek47 hello Derek; Your washing machine has a 2 or 1 1/2 inch drain on it. You need a 3 inch drain for a toilet.If your washer is on the first floor and not in the basement; it maybe something to consider.If there is a 3" drain handy it is possible for you to do, but if you have not tinkered around plumbing alot i would be a little hesient to do so. It is a fairly big job. They do make a toilet now that only has a 3/4 inch drain line off it and a lift pump in the tank. Something to consider.

My question is, I'm needing a 48-60 in water supply hose going through a wall to the sink, can I use a dishwasher hose instead of having to rig a compression fitting on it to extend? My question I guess, is there basically a difference in a regular sink supply hose and a dishwasher supply hose? Thanks!!!
@TheOldkid8882 жыл бұрын
Hello Aunt Floyd, A dishwasher supply hose is plenty long for your application, but both ends are 3/8th compression so it will not connect to the bottom of a sink faucet whereas the speedway supply has a flared end and a 3/8th compression end. So you will need to get a speedway supply, a 3/8th compression coupling and a 3/8th by 3/8th compression supply. You can get the compression supply shorter than 60 inches that is for a dishwasher. I do know some stores carry them from a foot to thirty inches in length. Hope this helps! Thanks for commenting and enjoy your week! Al

I haven’t bought my portable clothes washer just yet, but I was gonna put it next to my toilet. I was going to use the shut off for my toilet hose and see if I could find some kind of ‘T’ and hook my toilet and washer using this same shutoff and throw the drain in the bathtub... That seems like it should work?
@TheOldkid8885 жыл бұрын
Hello 19ninetynine, It MAY work...And I use those words with caution. That isn't something that I would recommend. You could have water all over the place especially with the drain. The water comes out with some force and could easily pop out of the tub. You should see if you can find a place you can tie into the drain and water for a more secure scenario. Thanks for commenting and best of luck with the project!

32 Is that one 3/8"s too? See i have one of those and its broke and i can't fix it until i know the size of the nut or the handle bottom? I've been searching for awhile but i see people doing all sorts of stuff that don't make sense. They had a plastic wingnut on it, for now the waters off until it has to be used and then i let it leak on the floor for a little bit. Poor wood floor..

Hello, great video!! Question? Can I use a dishwasher water line 3/4 and 3/8 ends with a washer machine? I know the dishwasher hose is thinner, will that cause any problem installed in washer machine? I’m planning to hook the machine water from under a sink and the 3/8 end will work under the sink without having too many connections. Thanks
@TheOldkid8884 жыл бұрын
Hello Regino, The inside diameter of the 3/8th dishwasher supply is smaller than a washing machine hose as you mentioned. Years ago all washers hoses use to be made of rubber and had a larger inside diameter. Since they began making the braided hoses for washing machines; the inside diameter has gotten smaller as well. So to answer your question...it may make the cycle a little longer, but it can be used. There isn't really that big a difference in the inside diameters and if you have good water pressure; you may not see any difference in the length of cycle at all. Hope this helps! Thanks for commenting and enjoy day! Al
@Vamo_Alla4 жыл бұрын
TheOldkid888 hello, thanks for your information and since you say I can use it even the diameter is smaller and I understand as you mentioned that the cycle might take longer, specially if my water pressure is slow. Fortunately, my water pressure is very good, so it might work for me the dishwasher hose. Again, thanks for your great info and keep making good videos and best of luck. Stay safe during this virus 🦠 crisis 🙏🏼

Thanks for sharing ...what happens if my hose is 1/2 inch, how do I install the elbow ?
@TheOldkid8884 жыл бұрын
Hello Lizzy, You're welcome! You would need a You would need a 3/8th close brass nipple and brass 90 along with a 3/8th male thread by 1/2 inch hose coupling. Then you could use the 1/2 inch hose. You would have to put the fittings mentioned in that order off the inlet of the dishwasher. It may be easier to purchase a 3/8th male by 3/8th compression 90 and use a five foot 3/8th hose. Hope this helps! Thanks for commenting and enjoy your week! Al

Hello question for you. My wife wanted to move her utility sink. And stack our washer, and dryer, in our mud room. When I moved the sink the P trap won't line up. Also I used shark bite fittings to replace the valves. Started with an elbow fitting, connected to copper pipe running down, to a T connection, out to a shut off valve. Then down to a supply line to sink. The supply line is to short what can I use, or do to extend it? Also what can I do to make the P trap line up? Thanks.
@TheOldkid8889 жыл бұрын
Hello 15Fire; I am not exactly sure how much tto short your supply line is, but they come in 30" lengths for sinks and basins. You can use a 3/8th compression coupling and a 3/8th by 3/8th braided supply line that you will join to the coupling and supply off the sink. The 3/8th by 3/8th braided supply line come in sizes up to 2' in length. How far away did you move the sink? As far as the drain itself; it depends on how far away it is from its original spot. If it is relatively close you will probably need a 22 degree elbow, a new p-trap and an inch and a half trap adaptor. It will make the job much easier for you to go new rather then fight with the drain. Get back to me when you get a chance. Thanks for commenting and enjoy your day! Al

how do i plumb into my water lines to hook up my washer?
@michaeljacobs432911 жыл бұрын
We replaced the bathroom sink and faucet in our modular home but now the water supply lines keep popping loose from the faucet after the water is turned back on. It doesn't always happen right away, but sooner or later it comes loose. The lines are 1/2" plastic. They screw to the faucet just fine, but then they come off. Any suggestions? Thanks!

@username12009 Hello username; I contacted a few plumbers from the UK just to get a little info for you.The rough-in measurement in North America is 12 inches from a finished wall to the centre of your T- bolts. I only recieved one reply back and he told me that their were many different maesurements.You can check your own toilet yourself, by simply measuring from the finished wall to the centre of the bolts and if it is close to 30cms; you should have no trouble. Tks and Best of luck!! Al

Do the flexible hoses reduce flow rates of the fixture for older installations?
@TheOldkid8887 жыл бұрын
Hello William, The flex hoses only have an inside diameter of a 1/4 of an inch. The same size is for most any speedway supplies. Most faucets only have 1/4 or smaller holes in the bodies themselves which will only allow a certain amount of water to flow through. Older faucets installed on bathtubs for example would allow a great amount of water to flow and generally had 1/2 inch copper soldered directly into them. You cold fill a tub in no time as compared to newer faucets. Keep in mind most faucets on sinks have aerators (screens) that are low flow. Thanks for commenting and enjoy your week! Al

@derek47 I am not a big fan of them as I call this toilet ( number 1 business ) only myself. The pump in them is nnot overly strong but ideal for fluids only.It is very similiar to a lift pump in a sewage tank. Does the same job ;only on a smaller scale. As far as hooking up a regular toilet where the washer is located, do a fair amount of homework. It is possible for you to do it, but it is a bit of an undertaking. Good luck and have a large day!!! can steel tubing be cut in half to install a splitter for a water filter? or do I have to use a different type of tubing? Thanks.

flushing the toilet would fix or produce the problem? I had the same problem not long ago. I couldn't get water to come out of the shower or bathroom sink. It was very hard to turn the water on and eventually after turning the water on a few times after noticing the problem the pressure had built up so much I could not turn it on any longer. I ended up having to switch out the moen handle and that seemed to fix the problem.

Can you tell me if I can bring water to washer from shower water pipe?
@TheOldkid8888 жыл бұрын
Hello M Schmidt, Yes, you can bring water from shower piping. I would hold off on grabbing a shower when the washer is running unless you have a single lever posi-temp faucet. The water temperature will change quite often and that could be a bit of a pain in the backside. This is the only draw back, but you can definitely do it. It wouldn't be the first time that's for sure. Thanks for commenting and enjoy your week! Al

@TheOldkid8882 жыл бұрын
HELLO Lori La Rue Hueg, Definitely not talking about a cat. Ferrule is not a common word used by many, but feral is. Ferrule in the plumbing world is very common. You never know what you are going to get when you do talk to text. I have seen it on many videos myself. I use to have annotations throughout all my videos, but youtube removed them all a few years ago on all videos. It was a great tool I thought especially when you can give a little extra tip that comes to mind when editing videos about plumbing. Thanks for commenting and enjoy your weekend! Al
