The slow motion helps to see where the rope trips up on your feet. Great breakdown! It's crazy though. Many jumpers think that the trip up is a jumping or leg issue, but it's nearly always a wrist or arm issue. Great stuff man!

💯 Yes, you gotta understand how your hand positioning affects the rope. That's when you can really start moving forward and decreasing the amount of trip ups👍

I wore a boot for two years, paid for physical therapy out of pocket, the whole shebang. I can't do jumping Jack's but my PT said jumping rope would be fine so long as I ease into it. My 2 cents as a Newbie here. GREAT VIDEO! I wish ALL beginner training videos stressed jumping in front of a mirror early and often! I have the 1/4lb and 1/2lb cross ropes w AMP and have been practicing for about a month, nearly everyday. I did the cross rope 14-Day challenge and found it too advanced and all the footwork made for a lot of frustration cuz I couldn’t even do the basic jump consistently. Yesterday I saw this video so today I jumped in front of a mirror and recorded. Tho it FELT like I was symmetrical, the mirror and recording told otherwise- it was so obvious my form was not symmetrical and my arms drifted… I had no idea! It was a game changer and my practice today was GREAT!! As I said, I wish ALL beginner training videos explained what causes tripping and stressed jumping in front of a mirror when you start jumping rope! I’ll be skipping more “beginner” challenges and doing “free” jumping (in front of a mirror and recording to watch slow-mo) until I nail the basic jump… and possibly all the other “beginner” foot work … before moving on to “Beginner” challenges.

Great video, and others as well. Any suggestions for people with one fused wrist? I have to compensate the wrist being locked with elbow and shoulder movement...
@Jump15official
@Jump15official Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you don't have much of a choice. Elbow would be the next best, but try to keep the movement small. You may be able to drive the rope speed a bit more with your non fused wrist.

@@Jump15official Thanks for reply. Basic jumping is going ok. Thanks to this video I concluded that fused wrist might be the cause of tripping.

all this time I blamed my rope for being too short (it used to get caught in my hair) or my bad footwork (i have leg problems). turns out my hands go wide or too forward

Thanks great video. I just started jumping but having some ankle pain. What do you suggest?
@Jump15official
@Jump15official 3 жыл бұрын
When starting out you can expect some lower leg soreness and pain as your body gets used to jumping. Just be sure to give some breaks, stretch, and don't overdue it. That can lead to injuries like plantar fasciitis or shin splints. Gradually increase duration over time👍

Nice video. In learned a lot from this. I can’t jump rope to save my life. I take Krav Maga, boxing, Maui Thai and I still can’t jump rope lol. I brought me one and want to add it to my exercise. With anything you have to learn how to do it no matter how easy it is.

For sure man. A rope with more weight in it will help you learn the timing👍

Kyle that is really awesome guide. However I've got something important to add. The imbalance on the hand positioning (one higher and one lower) is a extremely difficult problem to fix. I suffer from it. My left and right arm do not feel equal when doing something like pushup or skipping. When I pushup, usually my right arm is little farther. When jumping the left is much lower. I believe it all started after I suffered from a little injury on the left arm. The problem is this dissymmetry feels normal. When jumping if I manually keep both arms same, it feels that they aren't equal and I trip up or gradually they change the position. Even when I do pushup, same problem. I don't even know which arm is weaker. Have you got any solution? I jump ripe outdoors without any mirror. This problem is very annoying and hard to solve due to physical mascular imbalance. I've been able to reduce the degree by shortening my rope considerably.

I know what you mean. I still have a slight imbalance due to separating my left shoulder in college. You may have to live with some imbalance due to injury, otherwise it's trying to make an adjustment and sticking with it as best you can over time to develop a new natural position. Things like this just take time and concious effort. If you can get access to a mirror, I think that is the best way to fix these types of things because you get real time feedback. Also depending on the injury, maybe you need to work on strengthening that side some. If it is weak it may be allowing it to drop lower than the other side. That's just a thought as I am no doctor.

Dam I found the error of my jump roping lol I put it forward because I like the sound of the whip on the ground, but now I see I put it too far forward when I'm tired. Thanks my man, its hard to see from crappy self-record angles when you don't know what your looking for.
