How to Jump Start a Lexus Hybrid

This is not the case with the 2014 300h! There is no positive jump terminal in the relay and fuse box. I haven't needed to jump start mine, but just went through it this morning trying to jump my wifes' car. No videos on here as to what to do. I had to call two dealers to get the scoop that the battery is in the trunk on the right side under a plastic cover. Once you pull the cover off it's a standard battery set up with positive and negative jump terminals and self explanatory. You obviously need to back up the car to the other car's front hood. It worked to jump start my wife's vehicle. I would assume it would work if the Lexus itself needed to be jumped and not only jumping another car. Best of luck

My IS300H died today as I was cleaning the alloys and had the radio on. But I only had the start button pressed once in accessory mode not the Start/Ready mode. I realised after that the engine wasn’t starting and stopping while I was cleaning the wheels and this accessory only mode has ran the battery down. I’m going to jump start the 12v boot battery shortly once my booster pack is fully charged. Thanks in advance for your comment. 😅😅

@@talmanyurkovich4486 How long were you using the accessories without the car being turned on? It should run for many hours without flattening the battery. It's not like you're running a motor from the 12v. I'd definitely get the battery checked. I had a '17 Camry where I'd sometimes listen to podcasts or music for hours as I stared out at the view from the hills or did work on my tablet (stand alone computer, not the screen in the car).

Question: on normal ICE vehicles the battery would be charged by the engine/alternator. Since the engine isn't running after this "jump start", how does the battery charge up so you can run the engine/drive? Does the car die immediately when you disconnect the jumper? (looking at buying a hybrid, just wondering how this works).

In the case of this Lexus and the Toyota hybrid systems, there is no alternator or even a starter motor. When you’re jump starting a Lexus/Toyota hybrid, you’re giving the 12v system enough energy to ‘wakeup’ all the modules, computers and you may even hear the electric ABS pump priming too. The hybrid (traction) battery charges the 12v (accessory) battery. If the hybrid battery is low after jump starting and/or if the combustion engine is not at operating temperature, it’ll send a signal to start the combustion engine using the motor-generator to charge the hybrid battery which in turn charges the 12V battery. As the hybrid battery charges the 12v battery at a much lower rate than a normal alternator, you may need to run/drive the car for longer periods.

For future reference...Car door unlock button. Maybe the remote battery is dead or weak. Change battery and try unlock again to turn off the horn honking.

The key has an actual key lol. It flips out

Behind the drivers door handle (right hand drive) when you pull it, there is a key symbol and a lock barrel beneath it. You can use your emergency/mechanical key from your fob to unlock the door

hello. I'm traveling for 20 days and I would like to know if there is some way of charging my ev battery just turning on the vehicle... I mean full charged... So a friend can come to my home, turn on the car twice in these 20 days and preserve the battery. it that possible? lexus is 300h 2017. Thanks in advance.

From experience I would recommend running your Lexus Hybrid for at least an hour every 1-2 weeks to maintain your Hybrid Battery and normal 12V Battery charge
