Just throw a fish when you jump to the button it works. Hold R2 on a prey with level 10 or above ( i suggest turtle ) and then double jump infron of the gate, aim the button and then throw the turtle with L1 and the gate will open

The purpose of doing the gate jump is to speedrun, you can't get shadow tail as a teen.

Bro, all you need to do is left click and hold onto a fish then right click and slap it into the button to open the gate.

Hey I think I have found a little bit of a better way to get to caviar key early from the bayou i ended up getting a merlin spawn by the hat and right beside the large main gate there is a small hole with bar the Merlin was able to grab me I then escaped it and the clipped thru into the area early

You're not supposed to jump over the gate. You're supposed to grab a fish, jump and tailwhip said fish into the switch.

It's a trick for speedrunning, you can't tail whip a fish into to switch from the other side. So to get through you have to jump over instead
