I did try to pick up ganking junglers this preseason, but my issue is, that as a ganker you put most of the resources in your teammates who may or may not loose the lead. And even if you take the kills the farming jungler still has the potential to outscale you. You have early control but if you have weak lanes the game will slowly slip out of your fingers - where an assassin may collect kills, scale and carry his team from behind.

2:30 If Kayn is smart, he walks up to Raptors to place a ward or look if they are cleared. Either Zed is there and he knows he should do Blue to Bot crab, but he sees in this case that they are cleared and he can full clear with chill time and gank Top after. He will also habe a ward on Zeds next rotation.

Thank you for the knowledge, as always. So far I found that the actual meta favors a lot more turbogankers over farming junglers. After all, the champions sitting at the top for now are heroes like Nunu, Yi, Warwick or Rek'Sai who can spam ganks early and bruteforce those ganks with their speed or extra mobility. The only thing that I found to equalize the balance is Predator. I play a lot of Lillia and I find that Predator allows you to match the turbogankers by bypassing traditional ganking process and just brute forcing through sheer speed. I don't have to wait anymore for the lane to be favorable (low HP, out of position, vision deprived ...) now I can just pop Predator and run over ward to wack people with my stick. Is it skillfull? Hell no. Is it the only way I can match a Nunu without my laners wondering why Nunu has ganked them 3 times in 4 minutes while their Dark Harvest Lillia is still peacefully farming krugs? Hell yeah. Now with the Predator nerf (and it had to be nerfed, the rune is blatantly broken right now) I'm curious to see if most of the farming junglers who relied on it will be able to stay relevant.

I feel like this gank meta is only good in lower elo that can punishes out of position players. If they play safe and ward well then the power farmers become much more relevant. If you try to invest you can get collapsed on a lot quicker by safer players. I am a nunu main btw.

@@MrDrManPerson I'm not much of a statistics guy, but this time the number tell another story. In both low and high elo, the top winrates are by far for the gankers (Trundle, Rammus, Zac, Xin, Nunu, WW, Vi...) while the farmers have pretty much all went down in popularity and winrates % . Lillia, Noc, Eve, Kayn, Nida... Although I don't really like super ganky meta, I'm not too worried about it. Pre season is always wack and everything gets thrown around all the time. They're already nerfing lots of tank items so the Sejuani and Skarners that suddenly got back into the game will probably end up getting into the "who dis?" category.

@@gadget6569 I don't know what numbers you are looking at but Yi counters everything you just said. Yi is a power farmer and has one of the highest win rates, pick rates, and ban rates this patch. Fiddlesticks counters this, amumu, shyvanna, kindred. I am looking at mobalytics right now, and they are up there.

@@MrDrManPerson I'm just in plat lol and this video is kind of misleading. The kayn ganks literally had 100% success rate, i dont think i saw a single flash escape either early even. He says this works for 'any jungler' as well but kayn legit turboing through walls and bypassing would-be wards lol. I get the premise but come on its 2021 people HAVE gotten better, this may work in like low gold and below (where most players are) but if those ganks had even a 70% success rate, he'd have been throwing the game lol. Im not saying its impossible, just not a consistent way of jungling i guess idk im just a plat pleb

If you are feeling overwhelmed please feel free to try garen. He is a surprisingly good jungler. He counters warwick, assassins, mages, and ability fighters, and is a good bruiser. Has good ganks, easy clears that get very good clears mid game. His ultimate is an execute that really punishes low health.

From what I've learned: Don't farm too much, and don't gank too much. Basically my whole poppy playstyle of 4cs/min and 70% kp doesn't work aswell as before.

Depends. Some ganking junglers like jarvan are so utility heavy that it doesn't matter.

do whats working. If you can spam ganks and they all are successful, do that. Whenever you lose the tempo (failing a gank), pace back to farming. You'll find the harmony eventually.

Hey Virkayu, thanks so much for the work into your jungler videos. I'm a new jungler and I'm learning so much from your videos. I had a question to ask, I've picked up Warwick because I've seen he's decent meta-wise and easier to learn as a newbie. My only question is, I don't know the champions well enough yet to know what is a good/bad gank lane...are there any factors I should be considering?

Until Virkayu replies, here are some things to factor in : - amount of CC and especially hard CC present in the lane - scaling - Current environment in the lane (HP balance, position : is the lane being pushed or being pushed-in?) For example, if your bottom lane is a Jinx/Nautilus duo vs a Xerath/KogMaw and you're playing Lillia, it's an extremely good lane to gank. Nautilus has a lot of engage and rooting power, while Jinx can combo with her root and slow and scales extremely hard so she'll benefit a lot from the gank. Meanwhile, Xerath and Kog have no hard CC or mobility to disengage. Reverse example : if you're playing Lillia again (hard hitting jungler but with no extra mobility, no hard CC and overall skillshot reliant jungler) and your top lane is a Kayle vs Kench, unless Kench is really low or overextending, you'll be mostly wasting your time. Early game Kayle can't provide any damage or support whereas Kench is supremely tanky and has a strong escape option. If you're playing Warwick, a fast champion who specializes in quick, brutal engage and finishing off wounded champions, the factors that matter the most to you is lane state (HP balance and lane position : if there are any wounded champions or if they're even slightly overextending, you can run in there, fear them and secure the kill)

@@schmidtyhk If you're very new and looking to grasp a better understanding of champions pool, here are a few options to help you instead of grinding knowledge about the whole hundred+ champions, something that'll take you hundreds of game to acquire : 1- Go to League of Graphs - Champions Stats and filter the champions by role and by popularity then winrate. That way you'll have a good sample of the most frequent heroes you'll face in every position, then you can look up those champions in whatever websites you want and read about their skills. This way, you only need one hour to learn about the two or three dozens of champions you'll face all the time. There's no need for you yet to learn what Taric or Braum can do, but you'll miss out of you don't know what skills Blitzkrank or Lulu have. 2- Play ARAM a lot, it's a good way to practice mechanics and teamfights, as well as play as and face many differents champs, including non-meta ones.

Nidalee has a very fast clear. Would not classify her as a farming jg, but I can see where he's coming from (also Nida LOVES invading, kinda similar to Graves if it's ganking meta). I think Nida can be both a ganking and farming champ tbh

It's more ganking oriented for the junglers. Late game orient for laners especially mid and bot lane. It's mid game orient for top lane.

He is a good jungler just not good in general as he is a tank. Tanks aren't very strong this meta as they can be bursted quicker then ever. You can still make him work but don't get cocky, your a damage sponge, don't forget it.

Very true. She is a glass cannon and her jungle farming isn't even that easy. While sure, the basic is, the room to improve is huge, if you can kite your camps perfectly Lillia becomes one of the best farmers in the game, if not, she is average.

Nice guide, just one thing that didn't click for me: Zed and Talon are not junglers, they are midlaners and seeing them in jungle is nothing more than a bug. Don't believe me? Remember how Sylas was treated when he was playable in jungle. Riot sent a straight message that midlaners are not wanted in the jungle so Talon and Zed should go back to trash where they belong.
