Do ducks land in your pool? How do you keep them out?
@imasahm133 жыл бұрын
Solar cover doesn't work - they walk on it and still poop. Alligator and/or snakes don't work - they became BFF's. If Duckoff causes them to sink, won't they drown? Motion-activated solar light doesn't work, because they land throughout the day as well. I like the idea of the fishing line, as long as it doesn't injure them. This is the first time ever for us to have duck issues - we've had our pool for 13 years.

Yes ducks love my pool in the spring before I open it... It's sooo frustrating they tear up the mesh cover and winter tarp so the melted snow leaves & dirt from the winter goes into the clean pool water underneath. They always seem to know exactly when the ice melts and are swimming before I get the cover pumped off or I can open the pool without a chance of a possible freeze. One time after a weekend away I came home to 30 ducks normally there are 2 males & a female. They must've known I was gone & invited all their friends! The little duckers!*! Haha Will check out the Duck Off!! 🦆🦆🦆🐊

Our neighborhood ducks aren't scared of the Polaris. I was going to rig up a motion sensor with fake fireworks as they like sitting next to the pool too but will prob. try a solar cover first.

I have problems with ducks in my pool now. They wake me up at 530 am I go out chase them away. Then they come back at night. After reading other posts seems like the suggestions don’t work. I’m losing sleep wish I had a dog or a tiger and get these little suckers. I’m in SoCal live by a pond where there are 100s! And they are not afraid of humans or cars! They stop traffic in the streets! Wish it was duck season here.

I have trouble with black birds placing their baby birds poop droppings from their nests in our pool after we open it. It usually lasts for a couple of weeks in May. We usually have our solar cover on then so most of the poop droppings land on the cover.

We had a Mallard couple in our pool during the springtime. I had to yell at the ducks weekly to get them out. But the dog worked the best. Duck poop is messy. 💩

Same problem with ducks in our pool and nothing works. The ducks dont care about floats, dogs, humans, decoys, fire crackers, sprinklers, or automated pool cleaner.. My pool stays open year round and is well maintained amd they love the chemicals. Unfortunately you cant keep ducks away as long as they are alive.
@nordicgirl1677 Жыл бұрын
True. And now the problem is duck populations are declining drastically. I don't care if they come to my pool. I maintain it well and it's a safe place for them and they come and go. I'd like to see the species saved. Dogs floaties and all the other things mentioned do not keep them away. If you have found they have laid eggs in your backyard please call a duck rescue! If you can get the eggs to them they will incubate them and hatch them. After they're born taking them from their mother is a brutal proposition because the mother misses them terribly. They are a protected species. Everyone be kind to ducks

I manage one of many 30,000 gallon commercial pools so can't use a solar cover, can't use a dog, or a robot cleaner, and I would imagine we would have to a ton of duck out which would cost too much money. We've tried so many floatable things like alligators and rubber snakes and nothing works. I wonder if there is some kind of electronic frequency booster that would drive them off.

If you have a high fence around the pool. You could crisscross strings over the pool. They wont try to fly thru the strings.

Install some metal poles around the pool and then attach fishing line to them and run them across the pool. Ten feet high if u have to. Guaranteed to work.

Problem is too many ppl cutting down mature shrubs & trees, reducing predators, so ducks are loosing habitat too in cities globally. I Appreciate input from other posters so I won’t waste time & $$. I welcomed ducks in past but this time the large male is daily sunbathing , pooping on deck , swimming & pooping while waiting for his mate to finish laying. Usually males hide in shrubs @ back, softly talking to female mate, & no poop on deck nor swim in pool; ducklings hatch & they’re all gone by 10 AM. There’s a large public pond about 2 miles away. This couple flies away to eat @ same time daily. Algea has been a big problem in my area for every pool, spent hundreds getting water clean. We’re going to buy good goggles to protect eyes in pool water. Absolutely NO fear from this mature mallard couple. They ignore dogs, all pool work & ppl around them. I discovered how dirty they make clear water infant plastic pools from ppl who keep ducks- but thankfully it’s mostly mud from “food sifting” thru water. I could never keep duck as pet seeing what ppl must do for them routinely, even with sophisticated filter mini tub system.

@@2878clFishing line is not visible & will cripple duck, likely leading to cruel painful death. Netting they can see is humane.

The ducks aren’t afraid of any of your suggestions. They know the dog can’t reach them in the pool, so they are only scared off if they are in the yard on the ground. And of course if the dog is fast enough, I’ll have to clean up a dead duck. Do you actually have ducks in your pool? I feel like you don’t.
@2878cl7 ай бұрын
OK people I probably shouldn't share the secret but I'm going to because there's literally nothing that works except for this method. I've gotten rid of ducks at dozens of pools 100% it always works you have to use fishing line. String it up over the pool in their flight path there's many ways to do it. Typically what I do is find the closest corner of the house to the pool and attach a hook and then from that hook I run fishing line out to the fence so you effectively have 10 to 12 different lines in their flight path. You don't have to leave it up permanently just for a week or two. It's almost like they see a ghost cuz they'll hit it and they won't know where it is because they can't see the fishing line so they tell their friends and they will avoid your pool from then on I swear it works I've done it dozens of times. Should they happen to make it to your deck run fishing line across your deck approximately 3 to 4 in off the deck so that way they can't walk around they'll get tired of hitting it and they'll leave there you go folks old trade secret from a 10-year plus pool guy and I know it works for a fact let me know what you think. It also works for winter grass if you have pigeons or doves that are eating your seed string fishing line across the top of the grass until the seed Sprout and start to grow

@2878cl7 ай бұрын
Well, that's what I neglected to say. You need a shovel to dig a hole so that you can bury all the dead ducks that this method causes..... Of course they're OK. It doesn't hurt them.

It's a humane and safe chemical. It just messes with the surface tension and they don't like that in the water.
