What doyou think the stores do ? They don't order them every day
@AnglersEscape11 жыл бұрын
Try and change out half the soil every month or so with topsoil from your yard. As long as you keep the worms in the refrigerator the coffee grounds will usually make the soil moist enough. However, if the soil looks dry and cracking then place an ice cube or two in the worm container so it will slowly melt and moisten the soil.

@@patches2221 You probably used "Decaf" 😁 Sorry for the lame jk. I bought a container today (3.99) and well over half the worms was dead (nonresponsive). This video is helpful to me cause now I have a chance to salvage what I can
@walkingdeadman42082 жыл бұрын
@@BamaExplorations you should always check out the worms when buying from a store. They dont care if they are dead, they are just making money. If they are dead, they would have to throw them away and loose money They dont check them , they usually just put more in with the others

Thank you for your informative video 👍 I just bought my very first container of worms and didn't know how to store, or feed, them. Thank you for teaching me that "yes" I can keep them in my refrigerator. And letting me know to feed them coffee grounds. Over half the container was possibly dead (they weren't responsive) but at least I can salvage a couple. "Thumbs Up" for a great video 👍

thank you! just found out local fish prefer live bait to sparkly things so I will gather worms while gardening and keep them cold and feed them coffee grounds left over from the morning conversation group that meets in my building. Wonderful! Do instant coffee, decafiennated and already brewed coffee grounds work the same? I have crushed coffee beans if that works better for worm food.

Ik this video is old AF but the coffee tip was new to me so thanks for that. I buy worms to feed the toads my son caught, 1 about 8yrs ago the other about 2 or 3. Now like everything else he's tired of them so I take care of them. Wondering if these worms I bought from Casey's will eventually procreate if saved long enough because I just noticed some eggs in the container? appreciate any further advice.. thanx

hi that is a great info tip about the coffee because i had no idea they could eat that or that its all they need to stay alive so long,,actually ive had some from the store that lived 5 to 6 mo in the fridge without me feeding them no problem,,i have a few questions 1) could too much cold kill them? im not sure if my fridge is set too high 2)should you keep no more in a box than the amount it holds? for example if its 12 or 18 or 24 3)i been harvesting my own after a rainy day at night to save me some bucks,,i got 30 in 40 min but last time they did not seem to last longer than a couple or few weeks before they started deteriorating,why is that? 4)can i use instant coffee? lol 5)is it really necessary to keep them in a fridge ? because in nature in the summer the ground dont get that cold does it? thanks

I just bought some night crawlers that I use to feed my axolotl and they all look skinny and weak. At the store, they were literally the only ones that I found that were still alive. Is it too late to try and restore their health with some food? Or is there another factor that I should be looking out for?

I added some fresh landscape dirt and then yesterday added cornmeal. I also mixed some apple juice with some water for moisture. That was yesterday haha so now I have to wait and see if I harmed them. I'll add coffee grounds today. I've had the worms about 3 weeks and they are all really healthy.

veggie scraps
@ireneb34333 жыл бұрын
@@dawnlark629 not really, not if they're being kept in the fridge. It is a misconception that earthworms love to eat the vegetable scraps (they're not caterpillars!) ... earthworms actually feed off ('slurp up') the *bacteria* that decompose the vegetable scraps to mush, and in the process the (mushy, rotting) vegetable scraps get ingested also. But, seeing the whole purpose of refrigeration is to stop the decomposition of the vegetable matter by bacteria, this is not going to be all that effective in this case, unfortunately
