I used to do preserve my lettuce like this but I found an easier way. I fill up the freezer bag with the lettuce and then take a single sheet of paper towel and lay it over the lettuce. It keeps just as long as rolling the lettuce up in individual sheets. I can’t say whether it will last 6 weeks or more but I find it does last for weeks and makes it easier with less waste

Tupperware used to make a salad crisper. It's a bowl with a long stem in the center where the bottom of the lettuce after the core is out. With the air tight lid, the lettuce last a very long time. I don't have one anymore so I will use a paper towel with the lettuce or veggies. The paper towel is the key.

Good information. Just as an aside, I have a Farmstand and grow my garden hydroponically indoors. I can cut my lettuces and herbs and refrigerate them for up to 8 weeks before I have any loss. No washing before putting them in the refer. I have been ecstatic about that as my hubby and I are both seniors and don't use things as fast as those with children. But this is a great alternative. Thank you.

I checked the timestamp you provided, and it's where I was rolling up the bag, pressing the air out. Is that what you're referring to?

I have been looking for a way to make lettuce last a little longer, I will try this. Also, I take it that the towels are washable and do not fall apart, this too I will also try. Good video. Thank You...
@foodprepguide7 ай бұрын
Yes, they are washable, but they do have a lifespan. I’ve only had mine for just over a month, but reviews I read said that pretty small roll lasts over a year.

I have the exact same salad spinner and LOVE it. For store-bought fruit I do the same thing but use any mild soap and clean with brush. Make sure the fruit is dry. Last for months.

Thank you for such useful information. I also appreciate learning about the recyclable paper towels and gallon bags definitely going to invest in those too and try the lettuce trick! I've thrown out so many bags of lettuce you would never know and it makes me very sad because I love salad but it gets messed up so fast!!😊

I've done this for years, it also works well for chopped raw veggies. Peppers, onions, jicama, I place papertowles in the bottom of the container add the diced vegetables tuck another towel over the top and snap the lid on. I'm not sure how long they keep, but I never have to throw away "old" veggies. 😆 I'm going to check out those papertowels, I buy the cheapest ones I can find but I still end up buying quite a few packs!

To whatever053 There are so many videos to watch, i do hope you don't waste too much of your time on them. There are even some, showing you how to chop an onion, slice by slice, and one I saw many years ago where making an omelette for a household of at least 12, we were shown how each of the 36 eggs were cracked, placed into a bowl, and then whisked. I wont be watching that again, but thought this presentation was very well done. The moto here, don't continue watching if you don't want, but DON'T BOTHER COMMENTING (maliciously????) either. Many people have found useful information here, obviously you are not one of them lol

Praise God when you proclaimed to "LOVE JESUS" what a message to a world that doesn't know Him "yet" - your video reminds me of my grandparents and my parents, their gardens were their sustenance, their hard work wasn't hard work, it was a labor of love to our Creator who provides. I will never know you, but in heaven we will know each other, wow, may your video's continue to proclaim the salvation that is ONLY found in Christ Jesus our Lord - keep proclaiming the name of JESUS - John 14:6 - keep up you missionary work by publishing these simple ways of life that are built on the solid rock of Jesus!!!
