I've just passed my Class C/2 so I've got to say thank you for these videos, they're a big help for someone like me coming from the Bus industry where all this is handled for us to HGV where it's on me and the fines are not trivial. Really helping me to get my head around all the different regulations. I'm just waiting for my cards back from the DVLA then it's on to the trucks, employers seem to want to see them despite being able to confirm everything online now.

I've been using Trucker Timer for several years now and I'm used to it, know all the features and find it helpful in other ways. On jobs with run sheets (I'm exclusively agency s work varies.) I find the log particularly useful if I've missed some arrival and departure entries. It's also useful for an at-a-glance check of my daily and weekly hours to ensure I don't go over.

I downloaded this app but I must've had the basic one. I need to re download it and get this version. Had a bit of a disagreement with my boss, who's recently done the 2 week CPC course. Told me that driving time is the time sat behind the wheel, not what the tacho counts as the wheels move. Also wouldn't have it when I said that it was what the tacho reads when the wheels move and that's what DVSA go by, just said "no they don't". Then a couple of days later said I need to put the tacho on break or POA each time I stop in traffic. Great video, by the way. I've just watched your driving hours one, bloddy confusing and hard to get my head around! But my driving is mor sporadic and no teo days are the same.

I use Trucker Timer on Android, I know it's what I'm used to, but I think it's laid out better and provides more information at a glance. It does have the automatic GPS feature but I avoid it as it eats the battery. I prefer to use the tachograph itself for accurate drive time and Trucker Timer for WTD, daily and weekly rests. It also tells me if I've used reduced rest period, and how much time I need to make up for reduced weekly rest. I used to make mistakes before Trucker Timer that I don't make anymore!

Hey Kev, great video, but I’m looking for a bit of clarification as I’ve found so many contradictory views online. 1) Do you have to keep the app open on the phone home screen at all times? Or does it run in the back ground? 2) If so, what happens when you want to use the phone for other things? 3) could you use the app on an android tablet instead? 4) if the apps on your phone and you take it with you, on other work mode, whilst you walk around the lorry and yard etc does it detect movement on the gps and switch to driving? Or, as long as you remember to take it off of gps mode, by selecting other work, it will stay in that mode until you are ready to drive and switch it back to gps? The video was great, as usual, but I’d love a bit more of the real world practicalities as well as the actual restrictions with this app. Thanks in advance Easyyards.

very helpful video I shall try this when I start driving "break" and "not break" makes it easy again, surely employers do not expect new drivers to remember all of this on their first day without a card/sheet for reference? we ent all academics some of us learn by doing / repetition is there a truck satnav with this built in?

Hi Kev, brilliant instructions. I've just downloaded it. Could you advise me with regards to logging entries please. I'm a newbie class 1 driver who is currently wanting part time driving work. I work a rota shift within the steel industry and I'm struggling to understand the law regulations regarding part time WTD hours. My initial understanding is that I'm still limited to 60 working hrs per week which includes my Steelworks job. Should I log my non driving hours as other work and log my rota days as rest on the app, then as I do the occasional driving shift lod it as normal. So confused as a new driver 🤯🤯

How do you know if you're approaching a weekly rest.... As u cud put in weekly rest when u click the option but might be rung up to cover a job. Or do you just change the option to other work/driving when you are no longer taking that weekly rest. I guess you would see on the app how many hours u have left on weekly driving anyway right

Enquiry from Australia, where we still use paper logbooks, although many trucks have GPS telematics fitted for fleet management purposes. If you are on a break in the UK with a Tacho, say for instance while waiting in a queue. If you start the truck and move forward briefly and slowly, is there any tolerance built into tacho's which allows you to do this as though you are on continuous break and if so is this permitted by the authorities.
@KevTee5 жыл бұрын
If you move the tachograph will automatically switch modes and interrupt the break 👍
@Sarge0845 жыл бұрын
On second generation tachographs you can creep forward, or backward, about a metre at a time, keeping speed below (approximately) 5 mph. I've used this several times.
@rostilj924 жыл бұрын
I want to ask you one question. Because break and poa are not counted in working hours, so for example if I had 10h of drive and work only, and 4 hours of poa and break together, am I going to make daily rest according to that 10h of drive and work ( 11h daily rest) , or I will do daily rest according to 14h of that all stuff put together, drive, work, break, poa ( 9h daily rest) ?

@kevtee love the videos. How do you plan to drive up to your 4.5 hour drive time limit?
@noelborg44756 жыл бұрын
The problem with this is that you can't do a manual entry so you can't have the right timing results. as on your end of shift let's say you took out the drivers card at 7pm next morning you need to enter the time you left the yard of that same day which at least you add 10 minutes as other work , so for this App to work you need to keep it on other work for 10m longer before placing it to rest on your end of shift, and when starting next day let's say 7am you need to place it to other work right away at 7am so then it will match the timing better. I'm not sure of this yet but in the logs they should have an option to do a manual entry. maybe i'm wrong as i only had this few days. i did contact Pat who owns this app to add the ferry option and told her about your vid and the reason i purchased the app, Well best is to keep logs on a notebook . Regards.
@KevTee6 жыл бұрын
+Noel Borg it's very easy to edit any entries to compensate for any manual entries in the log editor. This is how I edit my times at the start and finish of shift without any problems for the last 2 years, really easy once you get the hang of it. Thanks for mentioning my video to the app creator 👍
