I use pine pellets that are actually made for horse bedding. Doesn’t take much. Total odor control. Very inexpensive. Makes no mess. Only a couple or so whole pellets make it out of the pan each day. Poop is easily removed in one clump. Urine is totally absorbed into the pine pellets and a light fresh pine scent is released. Where the urine is, the pellets fall apart and are easily scoop-able. I just move the whole pellets around to cover top layer. Then I add a large scoop of new pellets to top. I change the litter once a week. I buy a 50 pound bag for around $7. Fill pan 4 to 5 inches deep. It’s definitely worth it for you to try. I luv it and have absolutely no problems with my cats using it. You can get it at Home Depot, Tractor supply, or Farm Co-op type stores. Hugs from Gloria 💓💕

Cat owner and Cat pet sitter here, so I have used a large variety of boxes and litters. I absolutely love stainless steel boxes, they are so easy to clean and do not hold onto odors. My absolute favorite Litter is Smart Cat 100% grass litter!!! I recommend it to all of my clients. I am very sensitive to smells and dust so most of the clay litters really bother me and i have to wear a mask while scooping. I hate Pretty Litter and most clay litters, as they are so dusty. I dislike the pine pellets because they disintegrate into a sawdust and it makes scooping more difficult.

I bought one from Amazon recently after rescuing a one-ish year old Tabby (from a friend of a friend whose leg was amputated). Feline is delightful but huge for NOT being a Maine Coon. Loveable but a BEAST who needs a very large litter box. He prefers the stainless steel box and pushes the litter all the way to the back so he can press his very large paw pads against the stainless steel bottom but free of the litter he’s pushed away. He turns around & puts his bottom over the litter & then releases his business into the litter while pressing his paw pad into the cool stainless steel. I also maintain another very large litter box which is plastic. This cat prefers the stainless steel box.

As a lifelong cat owner I agree w/ the other commenter @ pine pellets made for horses at my local Feed store. Inflation & limited budget w/ 3 cats I buy a 40lb bag for $7. No more dust on furniture, most importantly compromising my lungs, air quality, cat ingesting clay when cleaning themselves, and heavy trash bags, etc. With the high cost of groceries and gas I can’t afford the $25-$30 cost for 20lbs of clay litter so pine pellets are a blessing and disintegrates into basically sawdust super easy to sift rather than the clumps that cling to every nook and cranny. Plus it’s super easy to wash off the box with an outdoor hose. I save hundreds of $ annually. The $ I spent buying a litter box made to sift pine pellets has saved me $$$ in the long run buying $7 40lb bags of horse pine pellets.

There are cheaper ones on Amazon. I live in Texas so I’m so lucky our Feed Store sells these $7 bags for horses bc no way would farmers pay $20-$30 for 40lb bag of horse pine pellets. Honestly, buying them at a Feed store is the way to go bc the large cat companies are gouging middle America for the same product and up charging for commercials, pretty packaging, and a hefty profit.

When I got them a water fountain, it took them a week to start drinking from it. I realized they just weren’t drinking at all and kept having to put out water in a bowl at the end of each day until they started using the fountain. I’ve always re-bought the same litter box over the years because I’m afraid to change it and have them not use it. I recently got them a generic litter robot because I’m sick of scooping a box, they actually went right in it and used it, but now that they’ve seen it self clean itself, theyre afraid of it despite it being sooo quiet and now won’t go in. I brought their old litter box back in and they’ve been sleeping in front of it like theyve had separation anxiety lol soo ridiculous

I switched to the disposable boxes about 6 or 7 years ago on a Clean My Space recommendation video. Previous to that I thought that the disposable boxes were a waste of money. However, I realized that I wanted to chuck my plastic boxes many times over the years because of how scratched up they would get from litter scraping the surface. It was a perfect capillary urine trap. I also didn't have a good sink to wash the box in and... so I rarely washed the boxes. Disposable boxes suddenly made sense. The clay litter was heavy, dusty, and difficult to clean; it's also not very environmentally friendly, so I am looking for something more lightweight and compostable. However, switching to the paper is not going very well because my cat prefers being able to dig a hole for his waste, so the paper product doesn't satisfy that need for him. I've been looking all over the IT trying to find this information and of all that I found, this was the most helpful! And I sincerely thank you for it 👍!!! Your tips really made me feel like I can finally start making a difference in my house! I'm currently using a grass seed litter that I got from Petsmart, and while it works well in terms of clumping and not sticking to the box, it's not great with odor control and scatters everywhere. But it's what I can afford for now, and my cats seem to love it, so all good! I've been thinking about trying tofu pellet litter, but I need more information about it. I have multiple cats and litter boxes, so the amount of litter in each bag is important to me. Tofu litter has caught my attention though, and I'm really hoping to try it out someday - who knows, it might become my favorite! Thanks again for the helpful video😊😊😺😺!! 💗💗💗

May I say for odors I find-Sprinkle and Sweep very good for pet messes (Amazon), Sprinkle and Sweep spray (truthfully, my best companion-destroys smells, does not cover them up and Silver Works- sprays- for furniture, fabrics, Pets and shoes.

We use a tofu litter that is flushable. So that makes clean up really easy.

I have 3 kitties and I’ve also tried most of the litter on a market and landed on sanicat pure w oxyfi, only the one w oxyfi is good, not the other sanicat they are too dusty, so oxyfi is the best clumping non dusting litter by far, we’ve been using it for years in our litter robots , as these boxes can only use certain types of clumping litter

I use wood pellets from tractor supply. It’s 8 dollars for 40 pounds and it literally has a cat on the bag to use so I know it’s safe and he has no issues using it and lasts so much longer!!

The only litter I can use is Arm and Hammer Clump and Seal. I've tried crystal, wood chips, and everything in between but it's the only thing that reliably keeps the smell out and that my cats will use. Yes, it tracks, but my cats kick and track anything no matter what I do.

Pine pellets at litter ( 40 pound bags lasts 9 plus months $8) Daily -Scoop the poop immediately ( into the litter genie ) Daily -Clean the litter ( removing the saw dust as that’s where they urinated ) Daily - rinse out water bowl and replace with fresh water Daily -Vacuum ( I too don’t use a mat as it’s just one more thing to clean ) Weekly -clean the litter box with vinegar and water/ food bowl with dish soap

Funny I found this tonight as I was looking for a stainless steel litter box today. I have a lot of cats. I use Dr Elsey’s Ultra clumping litter. It is fantastic at odor control.

I use Swheat Scoop and love it. It's also flushable. :) And you have reminded me I need to buy new boxes. I use the round Booda boxes with lids, and my cats ignore any other style. (Yes I have tried) The company at least claims it is primarily recycled plastic too. Didn't ever consider getting a liner though, thank you! My little stinker is quite skilled at leaving stains and it would be nice not to have to deal with that. Or bringing the entire pan down to the garage to dump monthly.

I used to flush my Swheat Scoop but it ended up horribly clogging my sewer line after about a year. We paid so much money to have the drain snaked by a company. They told us "someone flushed a ton of sawdust down your drain" but I knew it was the litter. Lesson learned!

Those stainless ones are pretty nifty. I never thought of plastic as porous tho. Anyway to answer your Q, I use "World's Best" in the green bag.

Ive been using Pretty Litter for about a year and a half now. I was very skeptical at first because its a non-clumping litter (which i thought would be awful because i want to scoop out the urine as well).....but it has been the BEST litter i have EVER used hands down! It lasts way longer than others, it literally has ZERO smell, it changes color to inform you of any health problems, and it is not any more expensive than cheap clay litter. I know it sounds like im an ambassador for the brand lol 😂 but no, it is just so good and ive been so impressed with it. It also works with Litter Robots.

My granddaughter uses PL and loves it. I kept her two cats last week and they tracked it all over my house. I go barefoot inside and every time I'd step on it, it felt like I stepped on glass! And funny story: My 3 month old kitten decided to play in her visitor's litter box. When I went to pick her up, she layed down in the litter and fought me. She was covered head to toe in that fine litter! She immediately had a bath!

I learned long ago that it doesn't matter if I like it! If the grumpy old lady doesn't like it, she will demonstrate her displeasure. On the upside, if the box is clean and it's just a problem with the litter itself, she will do her business in front of the box (rather than on the bed/laundry/couch as she does when she's upset about other things) so a washable mat catches something worthwhile for us. And luckily-ish, she prefers clay instead of demanding more expensive options🤑

We have six cats. We buy the wood pellets that they sell at farm stores for horses. We completely change the litter once per week and clean the solids twice per day. It works. We have four large boxes. We use pee pads under and on the wall because we have two older cats. The wood pellets are amazing for controlling odors. I like the idea of stainless steel.

I buy Exquisicat Natural paper pellets, fragrance free 10 day odour control. It's low tracking. I don't but pine pellets because it's supposed to be hazardous to health? Since it's springtime i'll clean the litter boxes outside and to sanitize further in the sunlight.

I have all male cats and they like to pee over the box. I did switch to stainless steel boxes but keep them in old totes that I was using as their litter boxes. I use pelletized equine pellets.

I use crushed walnuts litter for my cat. Its the best litter Ive ever used. and I scoop the litter twice a day. People say they would never know a cat lives here btw I wouldn't use any citrus scented cleaner around your cat they do not like it at all .

I have to change my litter every now and then. I find there is too much dust so I rotate three brands. I have a less dusty boy as a result. Oh and I use half of a cardboard box for side panels he sure likes to fling his back feet. I just change it out when it gets gross. We use a small rug from dollorama and it took care of the little rocks from when he steps out after litter use.
