Love your design. Going to try to make this without 3D printer. Thanks

Chuckled at the channel name, instant thumbs up when I saw you measured for before / after airflow AND noise; PLUS the curved baffles for smoother (which makes quieter) air flowing. I've watched a couple RV airflow hack vids now & this is the 1st that gave an airflow difference. Well done!

nice job, i would have put the diverter all the way to the opening from the fan but this is quite an improvement and will probably work just as well

That's all fine and dandy, but down south July, august you can't have the just running through vents, it will warm up by the time it gets out . Unless you have heavy duty insulated camper, I'm looking into bigger a/c unit, calling hvac company after thus summer

@ClassCBroads I tried something different, I went up to the roof, I had one of thise electric blankets from Walmart, just took blanket wrapped my a/c over the cover, thise car window shades over the too, and my sunshade cloth, just half the a/c , so far extra cold

@@commanderfootball I'm not quite tracking what you did, but as long as it works, that's awesome!

I live in the Deep South myself, and whether you get a bigger BTU unit or not, increased airflow from an aerodynamic improvement will help IMMENSELY. Do-it-yourself or installing the RV Airflow kit ($170), the results are dramatic - and I mean DRAMATIC.

Good idea doing the before and after airflow measurements. Never would have guessed it would be that dramatic of an improvement
@milkshake82522 жыл бұрын
Did this mod last week, definitely increases airflow through the vents, unfortunately rv acts just suck and can't keep up with the 110 degree las vegas heat
@ClassCBroads2 жыл бұрын
110 degrees? Wow, I've always heard that the max relief you can get is a 20 degree differential, i.e., the best you can do is around 90 degress inside. Good luck, and buy some cold beer.

I like the idea of making the corner piece out of a solid piece of foam rather than just a piece of foam put in at an angle. Your way removes all of the sharp angles which could create the best flow. Another thing that helped me a great was to pop off the vent covers and seal the ductwork to the ceiling and the vents to the duct work. In my rig the vents were just pushed into a round hole in the duct and not sealed at all. Also at the end of the duct it went a good foot past the last vent and was just pinched to seal off the end. I added a piece of curved foam and taped it so the air was all directed down through the last vent on the line.
@ClassCBroads3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply, Adam! I completely agree that checking out the ducts is the next step in making your A/C work more efficiently. After I finished this project I noticed that our front A/C seemed to be sending more air to the bedroom and that our bedroom A/C was sending more air to the front. I don't like to run both at night so I put some foam in the racetrack to only allow air from the bedroom A/C to flow out the ducts of the bedroom and bathroom. Now the front A/C only cools the front of the RV and the bedroom A/C only cools the back. There are so many opportunities to make these systems work better!

That's called an air cushion. It doesn't hurt to go past the vent. Actually makes it a little quieter, but doesn't hurt to stop at the vent either

Great video! Based on another video I saw several months ago, I did this. I used straight foam board for the corners angled at 45* instead of curves. I did not do the middle section as I did not want to take the metal frame down. I’m reconsidering that now. Had not seen the curved design, but makes sense. Even though I used straight pieces and no bottom “air director” , I still lowered my decibels from 66 to 60. In creased flow by at least 50% though I wasn’t able to measure that. I have a Dometic Brisk II, 15k . As I said, I’ll probably redo mine using your design. Thanks for sharing this.

Just an FYI from a career automotive technician, every time you pull the trigger switch on your tools the switch is wearing out quicker. I would recommend setting a slower speed and holding the trigger until the screw is removed or tightened. Just a thought.

Do you lose the ability to dump air from the main vent?
@ClassCBroads2 жыл бұрын
That is correct. We seldom used our "dump" so we think it was worth it.

Those improvement numbers are impressive, good job! I'm wondering if carving the center baffle out of foam might also improve the sound dampening(?).
