When Terran is "even" to Protoss, Terran is ahead. Protoss is balanced (or not balanced, according to some particular persons) around having a faster economy. SCVs can't mine while building, and comsat stations slow down the building of SCVs. Also, SCVs actually mine slower on many mineral formations due to the shape of the command center. Therefore, if nothing weird happens, Protoss should get its second nexus faster and have a few more probes, and that's why Terran is ahead when "even".

It's bc Protoss units are far less cost efficient than Terran units, resourse cost and supply cost. Terran factory units are just simply superior units in every way to protoss gateway units. Protoss (like zerg) has to win by deception. If the entire map was revealed to each player and they could see each other it would be impossible for Terran to lose a match bc they have better and cheaper units.

If Terran could see it as soon as it begins there would be a zero % chance. Terran would wreck em before they had 3 interceptors... If the whole map was revealed, it would be impossible for Terran to lose a match.

@@ericjepson3765 How does Terran beat carriers in macro games? by out expanding the Protoss. Terran must either go all in during the transition (which isn't possible when Protoss goes carriers as a way to capitalise on an advantage), or Terran out expands the Protoss, like Light did vs Rain in the KSL 4 finals. This is because carriers are cost efficient. Factory units are cost efficient vs gateway units, but carriers are cost efficient vs factory units, and the ultimate lategame army of doom if both races have infinite money, is carriers + arbiters (and a few high templar)

I'm honestly curious why against mass Carrier we almost never see Valkyries who have good armor and do splash damage vs interceptors.Yeah, the upgrades are invested in ground units are Valks really that bad considering that Goliaths can't even damage Carriers in a lot of map positions.

Interceptors don't die from the Valk splash damage. If you want offmeta answers to Carriers, try Marines, they do very well until a psistorm shows up.

Why do Terrans never try and use Lockdown vs Carrier builds? If it hits it's a dead carrier, which is extremely valuable at the beginning.

I heard its too much investment. You need a Starport (150 min 100 gas) + Science Facility (100 min 150 gas) + Covert Ops (50 min 50 gas) + Lockdown (200 min 200 gas). Thats 500 minerals and 500 gas, before you can cast lockdown. And the Ghosts are fragile too.

Keep the view zoomed out more throughout the game. You are doing a strategic commentary. I played very little StarCraft. Years ago I bought the "War Chest" package, finished the Terran campaign and few missions of the Zerg. Never updated to Brood War even though the CD was in the package. Somehow I lost interest in gaming but I do enjoy these game cast commentaries. I even enjoy viewing playthroughs of some of my old Amiga favorites, often just for the amazing soundtracks. Question: Is it possible now for other players to take over playing a previously saved game at some point to see if changing to a different strategy would change the outcome? It kind of pains me to see Terran players run their goliaths around trying to chase down carriers. I kind of think that if the Terran player does not have 6+ cloaked wraiths by the time the Protoss player has 4+ carriers then the Terran player is a dummy; likewise the Protoss player when he's not storming clumped up siege tanks.

And just watching these games it looks so uphill for Terran at times.
