Hi there, I'm an amateur crossfit person and I just found your great handstand tutorial and decided to give it a try. Wow, I have to say I have finally been able to catch my balance and really feel it! I ended up holding a pretty good position for a while without falling 🙃yuhu, thank you so very much!! but I have a small inconvenience, my wrists collapsed immediately and they got sore after a few attempts :( I guess it's because of all the pressure that is put on them considering that all the bodyweight is held in the hands.. Do you have any tips on how to prevent this from happening way too soon? Btw: I did a very good warm up prior to my handstand attempt. Thanks a lot once again!!

Thanks - I'm glad my little tutorial helped you! About the wrist problems: I think some volume training on something less intense would help. Like, spend some time holding the top position of a pike pushup (with your feet up on something like a chair so that the position is close to a handstand position). That should build the capacity of your wrists to hold the handstand.

Hi, 46 years old here. I've been doing calisthenics for about 1.5 year now. I spent most of this duration balancing a proper handstand for at least 60 secs and I'm very close to achieveing it. In the mean time, I've been also working on press to handstand without any success. Can you do it? Or have you ever worked on it? I think it's a very cool move and I'm dreaming of doing it some day. If you are able to do it, I would highly appreciate a tutorial for that skill. I suspect it's because of my disproportional body, I mean, I think I have long arms and torso but short legs, so I have to lean further than normal people. But I might be wrong and I will keep working on it. Thanks.

First congratulations on getting a very solid handstand in a very short time! I'm not sure what kind of press you mean. I haven't done straight arm presses for many years, but I used to be able to do them easily from standing - I could do maybe 5 reps lowering my feet until my toes touched the ground and then back up. I could also do straight arm/straight leg presses from an L on Pbars, BUT I did them badly - I bent my knees a little, and I had to yank them a little, so I used a little momentum. I definitely can't do them from an L now, but I'm sure I could still do them from the floor. I've always intended to get back to them, but I'm gonna have to wait until my shoulder is better.

Thank you. You also deserve a big congratulation for your achievements. For me, handstand is all about strength, I already had flexible shoulders and legs but I lacked the strength to control my body upsidedown. Just like you, I'm also very impatient and that costed me numerous injuries, luckily nothing permanent. I'm also working on strict muscleup and your video on slow muscleup helped me a lot. Thanks again. I also follow and greatly admire Paul Twyman's channel who is 45 years old and very skillful, he is working on full planche nowadays. You should check him out if you haven't already. I hope your shoulder recovers soon.

How do you keep the legs apart? every time I kick up, my second leg always come up too fast no matter how I keep it lagging
@The_Aging_Warrior
@The_Aging_Warrior Жыл бұрын
Hmmm... I’m not sure. I didn’t have that problem. Maybe you could try it against a wall so you don’t have to worry about over balancing. Try to leave the lagging leg way behind - like 90 degrees separated from the upper leg.

Need flexible hamstrings to do that. I know because I don’t have them.
