What was the intended point of your smug 'review' of a book that has helped 1000's to recover shoulder ROM (Range of Motion), functional mobility & active strength??? You may want to look into how the pharma-profit-based medical system & its "scientific research" functions & do a review of that. See how long it lasts on youtube before being banned -- IF it even can be posted for any length of time.

Suffering for over a year from shoulder pain. Been hanging for a week - 10-12 times a day for 20-30 seconds. I am already experiencing significantly less pain and I have a lot more range of motion.

Just tore my bicep in the most bizarre way. was reaching for something and it tore. I do landscaping and crook my arm a lot. Lots of paddling in the ocean. The fact it happened while you were juggling just reinforced what it you said and what my friends said: You're getting older. I'm 37. I still train like I'm 27, and introduced a lot of new things that really added up in the end.

Wow, that's surprising. Sorry to hear about your torn bicep. I guess overtraining and getting older don't mix.

Great video, good reality check! I'm 42 and had to stop doing chin ups for months due to golfer's elbow that just gradually got worse. There are some things you can't walk off. Thankfully now I found a good rehab exercise that seems to be improving it. Good luck with your recovery as well! It's always a good learning experience, pain is a good teacher.

Real medical research (statistically valid) research is very expensive and time consuming and can typically only be done in an academic setting--medical school or teaching/research hospital. It is no surprise that a paper consisting of anecdotal evidence from a medical practice would not be accepted for publication. Following up on his hypothesis would probably require a million dollar grant from the NIH. Getting research funding grants is extraordinarily competitive. Without a research track record, he is not likely to get this kind of grant. I can certainly understand his reasoning for self-publishing--given that the funding to investigate his ideas is unavailable to him. The question I have is whether or not hanging can damage the shoulder of someone with a pre-existing shoulder injury.

If I was putting anything concrete and wood that deep in the ground I'd set in a length of thick chain well painted with hammerite for the day it needed to come out then use a tractor or mini digger with slings attached to the chain to haul the thing up and out the ground. I'm 55 so may take my chances with wood in concrete, and the ground where I am is fluvioglacial till so really stony and sandy, no loam or clay whatsoever. Will make sure no vegetation is above it and slope the finished concrete to shed water. I was gonna buy a 4ft stainless bar from ebay as it's outside, now I'm not so sure as you say it's slippy, I know a superb local blacksmith may pop by and ask his thoughts on making something up for me...

Hands-down has a cosmetologist. I had severe severe pain with a torn RC bone spur. I got the book followed it. My pain is 100% gone after two months. He is onto something. I was almost walking into a surgery. This man saved my life with his method.

I had an almost identical experience. My mri showed a massive tear of the supraspanatus,a partial tear of the infraspinatus and long head of the biceps. Two orthopedic surgeons recommended a reverse shoulder replacement. As a dentist I understand Wolf's law which is the basis for orthodontic movement ,that pressure and tension on bone allows for remodeling. I had severe pain for several months and after hanging for several minutes a day I am now 90 % pain free.I do get some fatigue and soreness after swimming for 30-45 minutes which I do almost daily. I also spend a couple of hours at the piano which was nearly impossible before hanging.

From open aging warrior to another, cheers! Today I just unlocked the kipping muscle up; but can only do one at a time so far. Do you think I could/should just start working this transition? Or should I work to improve my kipping ones first?
@The_Aging_Warrior
@The_Aging_Warrior Ай бұрын
Congrats on the kipping muscle up! I think of kipping (or fast) muscle ups as completely different from slow muscle ups. You can definitely work on both - but be careful not to overtrain, like I did. Anyway, I wouldn't start with a no-false-grip MU. I would start with a normal slow MU with a false grip. I made a video about it (and I have several videos that show it). I always did mine with a little hop of the hands to get them into the false grip on the way up.

Hello there, I came across your channel while scouring around to collect some data from people's different experiences with their pull-up bar build in their backyard. I just wanted to reach out and say that your video content, humor, energy, and narration is really enjoyable to watch and listen to. I'm 35 and a Physical Therapist by profession, and although you mentioned you're in your 50's and "have no real qualifications", I still find your content to be very invaluable as I'm also in SoCal working out in my modest-sized home, trying to juggle and modify my strength & conditioning training to the dynamics of being a new dad and husband, while considering my longevity for my family. I hope you continue to put out more videos because you seem like the cool older dad/neighbor I definitely wouldn't mind shooting the shit with. Cheers!

So glad I found you. I don’t know that it’s so much age related as it is you’re just an intense individual. I say that with all respect as I’ve seen many young athletes severely injured themselves. Overuse injuries can take years. In my opinion we progress slower but steadier by training less frequently, with less sets and not always to failure. What do you think?
@The_Aging_Warrior
@The_Aging_Warrior 2 ай бұрын
I'm sure that everything you're saying is true. But I do think it's also age related. It seems like I get injured much more quickly now (including new injuries), and I seem to heal much more slowly than I used to.

I’m 50 and I do muscle ups handstand pushups etc. been a minimalist for a while. Haven’t felt pain I could t recover from in a couple of weeks in a while. By training this way. Just recently I started training more frequently. Fine in the beginning but now I feel aches around shoulder. I appreciate this video very much and I’m going to take it as a warning. - allow connective tissue to recover - address discomfort before it becomes painful - train minimal while progressing slowly God bless brother I think you just spared me injuries I just can’t afford.
